Who will be our first signing? I realize this is putting the cart before the horse once again. It has not even been officially announced that the team is coming to Winnipeg, however I think it would be great to start thinking about potential big name FAs this team may pursue. Free agency is only 6 weeks away.

Zach Parise is a RFA... might it be worth trading away our first rounder for his rights.

There are only 3 unrestricted free agents and subsequently there probably won't be any major signings

I hope the powers to be realize that trading away draft picks is not the way to build a team.

Okay, whose the moron who sign Nik Antropov to a 4 year deal worth 4 million a season?

I hope the powers to be realize that trading away draft picks is not the way to build a team. This first rounder for Parise would be a great deal... Parise is already a franchise player... being overshadowed by Kovy. Wouldn't it be neat to have them as rivals? Kovy got his start with the Atlanta club and Parise with the NJ club... interesting twist

There are only 3 unrestricted free agents From the Thrashers, yes. The rest of the league has free agents though. Hopefully some that are ripe for the Winnipeg picking. I say pick up a top line forward. I agree with Parise. Would be nice to have him. Big Buff and a set of softer hands is what I want. Any UFAs fit the bill? lol I love talking ACTUAL hockey!

I'm hoping Ladd gets resigned. An article stated he is waiting for the ownership situation to be resolved and has no hesitations about playing in Manitoba.
A guy with a Stanley Cup ring and 25 G-35 A season potential would be a useful addition to any squad and hopefully he remains with the franchise.

If only this team had a Power Forward that played wing on the top line of a Stanley Cup Championship team...

I know everyone wants Brad Richards, but I'd look at Mike Richards instead. Heart and soul guy, team captain, a battler for the puck and his teammates; isn't getting along with both the Flyers head coach & the Philly local press at present.
Trade Bogo + for Mike Richards please. Richards grew up in Kenora and played AAA hockey in Winnipeg.

Somewhere today I read about the Thrashers trading Tkachuck for draft picks, the year they made the playoffs. And also that there was a lack of an overall strategy for the Thrashers. My feeling is that if the team is a young team with good future potential, we should keep building on that theme. For that reason, i am against giving up draft picks - IMO. I would love to see a new Hawerchuk (or Toews) rolling into Winnipeg over the next 4-5 years! I thought you didn't have to give up draft picks to sign a UFA? If you can just sign a UFA without giving up compensation, then there's no reason why we wouldn't - as long as we make the best choices we can. If we are going to sign a UFA, I would like to either get someone who is still relatively young - with some future upside still - or else go for an experienced player who would be a good mentor - like when the jets acquired Carlyle, or Savard. Great idea for a thread!

He's only going to get better with some more help around him... By help i mean all the young players on this roster that will only be better in the years to come... keep your eyes on Kane, i expect him to have a huge season.
