I read that Rick Rypien would love a shot at the new club. Small cap hit for an energy guy who would add some excitement. I would love to see them add Jordin Tootoo, but I don't know his contract status.

There is a reason why Rypien isn't playing for the Canucks right now, there is something wrong with him (too many steroids?)...The Tootoo train would be insane, you think with APTN right across the street from the MTS Centre, how much exposure our hockey team would get from them, however he just signed an extension with Nashville last year, and after his playoffs not much chance he will ge traded. Aaron Asham would be a good pick up, an upgrade over Boulton. I think this team needs a legit #3 centre more than anything (especially since Burmistrov only potted 20 points last year and is marked to be the #2 pivot). However such a centre will probably only be obtained via trade.

OK PEOPLE.....I am starting to think most of you don't know anything about hockey..... First.....Selanne will not come back and play here unless Ana won't pay him and they will.... Second....Philly are not going to trade there C and best two way player Now a bunch of you have brought up Bieksa which I would think would be a good pick up if we traded a Def for another draft pick....if not we are pretty loaded in the back end with eight possible starters. So First thing we do is draft either Sean Couturier who was ranked number 2 going into this year or Ryan Strome. Both are very talented Centers and will help us up the middle Then we go after Jussi Jokinen and Ville Leino......Both are good point getters and strong top six two way forwards. Both happen to be from Finland and would probably like playing here. Each would probably only cost in the 3 million range and would be great additions to play with Ladd, Little and Kane. We would then have two pretty solid lines with a good core of Def and goaltending. Just my two sents worth......but please stop putting on here players that have no chance of coming here or being traded for....if were going to talk about this lets do it with some common sense..... I agree with you Boomer, some suggestions are downright ridiculous. One thing though is that whoever we draft, should NOT be playing in the NHL next season. Rushing guys to the NHL is another recipe for disaster. We are going to need to either sign a UFA RW, or trade for one. OR, have your fingers crossed that Klingberg can play this year (doubtful). Along with Jussi Jokinen and Ville Leino, I think a real good fit would be Radim Vrbata. The immediate hole in the lineup for next season is a RW to play with Kane and Burmistrov. Vrbata is a skill guy who would do really well there. If the team is looking for more of a sandpaper guy to put with two young guys (Kane and Burmistrov), I think a guy like Chad Larose would fit in well there. Finally, if Philly was looking to dump him to make some cap space, AND they didn't ask for much, I think another good fit for that spot would be Versteeg.

Signing Ladd is a must.
Somehow convince Buff to go back to F would be great.
I like the Bieksa potential but could come with price tag.. in that case not as interested. I would give someone like Postma a crack at it and then seriously look at locking up Enstrom.
Ville Leino would be a good signing too, has heart and wont break the bank
a good scouting team will be crucial for this franchise going forward...

Bieksa would be an interesting signing. Would have to go 5+ years at likely 25-30 mill. Not sure he can play like he is now for another 5 yrs.
Guy i like is local kid Hamonic with Isles. Maybe a trade, say Bogosian for Hamonic and their 1st round pick (#5) would work for both sides. Though i'm not sure the Isles want Bogosian that badly. Travis would be a true shut down pairing dman. Big Buff and Enstrom are a solid pair but i'm not sure they would be the pair i'd want to go against the other team's best in a 7 game playoff series.
With 5th pick take the best forward available (Landeskog, Huberdeau, or Couturier) and keep the 7th pick and take best player available. Would love to see Landeskog as a Jet. Future captain material.

I think the Islanders see Hamonic as part of their core group of young, developing players, and I doubt they'd give up their 5th pick overall for anything short of a Stanley Cup winning roster (I hope Winnipeg would have the same attitude concerning its 7th pick, too). I like the actual hockey talk, btw.

Agree IHN - bit of a pipe dream.
Hamonic would be a great addition to a new Jets team, but likely part of the Isles core moving forward. Isles have a number of draft picks in their system, some have worked out, some haven't. Not sure what their feelings are about their 5th overall pick. If they have Bogosian high on their wish list, they may do something stupid to get him. And being NYI, who knows what they will do. They haven't made the best of decisions in the past, hello Rick Dipietro.
And i'd be curious to know what Bogosian's market value really is.

From what I have gathered from the Islanders board on HF, they love Hamonic. I don't even think they would trade him straight up for Bogosian at this point.
I also would love to get Hamonic. I can't see them doing it though.

I think we should go for value and sign one of Bieksa,Erhoff, Zherdev, Frolov, Jussi Jokinen. Any one of these guys would be beneficial.

Maybe Bieksa will sign for a "hometown discount" seeing as how he apparently liked it here

If we're lucky, Sergei Bautin might come out of retirement.
