islanders will never move The Islanders will not be moving anywhere off Long Island. They are not a team up for consideration. Anyone following the team and it's circumstances knows this. And what happens if Long Island voters vote no to the proposed arena district deal? How do they stay in Long Island without a new arena?

Phoenix - Quebec is the most logical choice! And regarding NYI, I think (at most) they'll just move locations within Long Island (like to Brooklyn or Queens) so its kinda moot....

My guess is that in the next 5 years 2 teams move. Phoenix will move 1st after next season. With Quebec not being ready with a new arena Phoenix will move to Houston for next year since they are arena ready and hosting an exhibition game next fall just like Winnipeg did last fall. The Islanders arena vote will fail this monday or that board that still have to approve the arena even if it does pass will turn it down but the Islanders won't be able to move until the summer of 2015 due to their lease agreement. By that time Quebec City may be ready with a new arena.

If the vote for the Islanders fails, they'll move to Brooklyn and become a co-tenant of Barclays Arena with the Nets. As for Quebec, they really aren't ready to take a team next year. I'm sorry, but they just aren't. I think Houston would certainly be a top contender. They have the population and the arena. And they could help out Dallas ticket sales by having a state rival. Also, I'm surprised no one has talked about Seattle. They're definitely a dark horse in all of this.

Houston isn't ready for a team mainly because they don'y have anyone willing to take a gamble on hockey in Texas... see Dallas, its basically either Hamilton or Quebec City that have owners.

Any troubled franchise to Seattle once a new arena is built, or Portland is cool with me ;D

Any troubled franchise to Seattle once a new arena is built, or Portland is cool with me ;D x2. If someone steps up and it's a choice between a waiting to build a new arena in Seattle and waiting to build a new arena in Quebec City, the NHL will move to Seattle and wait simply based on market size.

and what about the panthers?? The Panthers while pathetic are no where in near as bad of shape as Phoenix and the Islanders are or Atlanta was. When Forbes did the team franchise values last year Florida was 22nd in team value. The Islanders were 28th, Atlanta 29th and Phoenix 30th. Maybe someday Florida will sink that bad but right now they are not moving.

Right now they have the skeleton of the arena constructed. Unless Wang contacts Bruce Ratner and the Nets ASAP to ask them to become cotenents its not going to happen. New York Mets owner Fred Wilpon was interested in building an arena in Queens next to Citi Field but Fred Wilpon is now broke due to the Bernie Madoff scandle.

Leslie Alexander may be interested. He used to be and never said he was or wasn't anymore. Seattle isn't going to come up with an arena for at least 5 years. If they do get an arena the 1st choice will be the NBA. This weekend at Safeco Field for a Mariners game the honored all the former great Supersonic players.

Winnipeg to Houston Jk I hope Florida, Phoenix, Carolina, or Nashville move to Seattle, Hartford, Quebec, Portland. Nashvile has been doing fine lately. My guess is the Nashville market makes it. Look at the attandence capacity last year. Nashville is growing fast and has no NBA to compete with. Hartford has no arena and no prospect of getting one. Portland is too small for both the NBA and NHL. It only has 2.2 million people. It would be the smallest market by far to have the NBA and NHL. Currently the smallest market with both the NBA and NHL is Denver with 3 million people. Plus there is no corporate support in Oregon. Oregon has only 1 fortune 500 company(Nike). ALso the Portland Trailblazers owner Paul Allen is NOT interested. He owns the Rose Garden Arena too.

I never lived in Seattle so i'll take your word for it. Your probably right. Next team Seattle gets is the new Supersonics. They do have the market size however for 4 teams. Portland would be as bad as Phoenix for hockey.

Islanders vote has failed. Mr. Wang has stated that he will honor the lease, and not discuss his next move. Hmmmmm.
