Where does Belanger get off saying that Go Jets Go?? He's never even been here! What the hell does he know about our economy or what there is to do around here?? Classless. This guy needs to take some lessons from Teemu ... Yep, I've been saying for quite some time that some of the players look a bit spoiled and stupid when they talk economics and say that Goldwater should "Shut up", so that they can get paid million from the public coffers. But all along, I've said I understand everyone's sentiments about wanting to stay where they are. It's not only understandable, but it's what they have to say whether they mean it or not. Belanger however, can suck my freaking *insert expletives-laden sentence*

Why comments like this annoy me is that Belanger is from Sherbrooke QC, Doan from a little town in AB, Winnipeg has a lot to offer compare to those places. Yes they've been playing in Phoenix, but if the sunny weather and warm climate is important, retire buy a trailer and join the snowbirds down there...

no... Brock said the only good thing about Winnipeg WAS the zoo. thanks for the clarification. It's all coming back to me now. Get rid of the star player who doesn't like Winnipeg and go on to win the next Grey Cup.

He's a piece of crash. He can go to Quebec for all I care. Do a little research before you open your mouth. All thing true there is it's cold here January and February. Tell Princess to suck it up. It's been 15 years and no fans. The latest two is nothing.

It totally pisses me off because you hear guys like Teemu gush about our city ... was it really that bad here for Doan? He was hardly even here, and even then, it was over 15 years ago!

There is a reason why it failed in Winnipeg? You idiot, they have all been corrected. Why are these people so stupid. Who needs this 4th liner anyways. Actually, lets keep him and send him to the minors. Some small town team where it's just as cold . That will teach him.

I don't want this to be a Quebec City vs. Winnipeg debate. But this guy has a flawed sense of logic. Winnipeg's economy is humming along, and because of more financial strength in the Asian countries there is an increased global middle class that will strengthen the prices of commodities which will serve Winnipeg better than Quebec City for financial growth in the future.
I want QC to get their team too! But for him to say that players don't like it here, why doesn't he ask Ed Olcyk, Teemu Selanne, Keith Tkachuk, Dave Ellett, and so on.

“In January and February, I doubt that my family would follow me out there for a holiday.” oh i'm sorry, I didn't realize you were being paid a ridiculous salary to have your family vacation in a hot spot. Have fun in Russia next year bud. Did Belanger buy a house in the DC area because he thought he had a verbal contract with the Capitals. Then the Capitals didn't have cap space for him so he signed with the Coyotes for $750 000 which was a million less than what he thought he was going to get with the Capitals. According to multiple sources, free agent centre Eric Belanger has a one-year deal in waiting to return to the Washington Capitals. The contract is believed to be a slight raise over the $1.75-million he made last season, to $1.85-million.
What's interesting is that he has been told not to announce where he's going, leading to Belanger telling the French language newspaper Le Soleil on Wednesday that he is about to sign but can't say where due to the fact the team he's headed to is working on a trade.

I have defended Doan on here a lot, but I have no problem saying that Belanger is obviously a complete idiot for a bunch of reasons. The main one being that he actually said this out loud to a reporter. How dumb can he be. Especially throwing (maybe) Doan under the bus too who actually is under contract for next year. And secondly, he obviously knows nothing about Manitoba, and his comment about Quebec's economy versus Manitoba's is laughable. The only place in Canada with a worse economy than Quebec is the Maritimes. We're in better shape than almost anywhere else. I don't blame him for not knowing something like this, since he's obviously been busy moving around playing for about half the teams in the league so far in his career (wonder why?) but he should have the brains to not just make up nonsense like this that everyone would laugh at. For further illustration on the intelligence of Belanger, this is the guy that bought a house and enrolled his kids in school in Washington based on an oral agreement with the team for a contract, contingent on a trade being completed, and then was suprised that he wasn't on the team 7 weeks later when he still hadn't signed a contract. ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Eric-Belanger-slams-Capitals-claims-they-broke-?urn=nhl-269847So, not the sharpest guy out there it seems.

From what I have seen of Mr. Chipman (I don't refer to many people as Mr.) and the way he runs things, in two years players will be begging to be traded to Winnipeg.
I see it as an organization that will rival Detroit in the fact that it will be a solid org from top to bottom. This will equate to winning and players want to play in a winning system.
However this should not preclude us from having long memories. Players who have come out publicly against Winnipeg should have no place on our future club.

April fools joke or not, Winnipegers have to come to grips with the fact that multi millionaires in their 20's are going to lean towards driving their Bentleys on freeways not potholes on Pembina Hwy!!!...kids I tell ya!

If any of you had the choice of living in Phoenix or Winnipeg, which would you choose? I don't blame anyone for wanting to live in a place with nicer weather but the bottom line is that if they want to make the money they do, they'll have suck it up and go where they are told. No sympathy from me. People get transferred in their jobs all the time.

Not knocking the US, but Canada is the greatest country in the World, and definately the best to live in. I wouldn't move to the States for anything, and frankly I don't think there is another province I would want to move to, although that's probably more out of stubborness and sheer home town pride.

It's the only place I know of that you can drive 2 hours in any direction and get a different type of terrain. The fishing, hunting, camping, and golfing is epic! The 4 seasons are beautiful and make you appreciate your summers and not take them for granted. The different colours in each of the seasons is beautiful, and we typically get tonnes of sunshine. Who cares about 1-2 months of the year being a bit colder. It's time to go ice fishing and play hockey! Our summers are just as hot as the winters are cold. Our lakes and rivers are world class, and the best part of all? CLEAN AIR! Sorry man. Manitoba is the place to live ... and I challenge anyone to try and convince me otherwise.
