Just got this now. Too funny. My message to Power 97 is that they are waaaaay too late jumping on the bandwagon. Once something has become a (near) sure thing, it is usually too late to flip flop to the "pro" stance. My condolences to them. And here's to hoping they were indeed joking about me pretending to OWN an NHL franchise. To that I am just plain speechless. I'll keep my contacts, they can keep theirs. Haha, no worries guys and gals, it was funny to read this thread though. I wish I won the award, then I could go on the air and set many things straight, like I did with Lochlin (ugh) Cross years ago. Bottom line, they did not "believe", until very recently anyways. We did. End of discussion. Hey Dave or Philly...drop me a line, lets have some REAL fun on the radio. Anytime guys. Cheers The funny thing is these guys will all publicly downplay their stance and will say they were just kidding and were always behind our team returning and knew someday they would. Stick a fork in them, they're done!

I dont know if pretending to "Own an NHL franchise" is true but maybe pretending to discover Mark Chipman might be.
"That's when I learned my goal to find a JetsOwner had come to an end." DF Jan 31 main page
I wonder what would have happened if DF had not found him

Are you an angry person? BTW, I don't "pretend" anything. Don't need to.

You, sir, are an idiot of the highest variety.
Mulvey, not Darren of course.
Did you ever think that Darren may have been referring to THOMSON?
Wow. The fact that needs to be spelled out for you is mind boggling.

I didn't hear what Wheeler said, but it just sounds like some light humour to me. He's just poking fun at Darren. I don't think its something for us to get our panties in a knott about? I agree. I have talked to Dave on a few occasions about the NHL coming back, and he is all for it. He just hopes just like many other people that I have talked to that the fan interest is still there in five or six years. Are we going to support this team through thick, and thin? Pretty sure Dave will have a job with True North when the NHL comes There is more than one person on this forum that knows the inside of the MTS Centre as good as or better than some other people in here.

what mistakes were made? just wondering..... You had to be there. It sounded like he had been drinking... - Introducing segments that weren't even coming up in the game yet... - Talking over game play....etc.... It was pretty brutal. I haven't met anybody thats never ever made a mistake yet. Drinking?? I work the games, and usually have a short chat with Dave in between the 1st and second periods. He had not been drinking. Please stop some of this BS. Lets keep it positive, and talk about getting an NHL team back in our city again .

Okay chad77 point taken. I was there, and it did not sound like he was drinking either. Tell Mr. Wheeler that the next time he is working a Blue Bombers game, the proper cheer is "go blue", not "go blue go". Nobody says that but him.

I am done in this thread. When the Jets left it was pretty emotional for me. I really hope we get a team back.

Bottom line is both Power 97 and CJOB have not stood behind this campaign up until recently, and choose now when they are likely negotiating to be rights holders, and all of a sudden change their tune. Wheeler, and Irving can say all they want now, but we that have been following this for some time remember the people that thought it was a 'pipe dream' and those who thought it could happen. Unfortunately for some of them in the media, their reputations have been altered by their stance and comments in the past, and people have long memories.

I just figured if you were friends with him, you might want to stop him from making a fool of himself, but c'est la vie.

And another thing... I think it is absolutely brutal how the local media has treated Darren, when all he was trying to do was start a conversation about bringing our team back. That's it! He didn't want money, or fame, just a team that most of us in the Peg wanted back so desperately. And all those negative comments. As I said, we remember, and we are consumers! Darren got more respect from out of town media outlets than his own city! The Fan960 in Calgary have thought the Jets could have and should have been back years ago, and have had Darren chat with them on many occasions and they respected what he had to say, and supported the idea. So shame on you Power 97, and shame on you CJOB! But we will all remember....
