I was on my way to work this morning, listening to Wheeler's morning show on Power. They were doing some stupid "Local Oscars" bit where they nominate local people for Oscar themed awards. The first one was “Best performance in a leading role” and to my surprise, the first nominee was Darren Ford of jetsowner.com, for, as Wheeler put it, pretending to have the money to buy an NHL team. DF didn’t win, that “honour” went to Mike Kelly. But WTF? When has Darren ever pretended that HE was the Jets owner? Wheeler had a laugh at that, and then a few minutes later Bob Irving is on saying that the Thrashers are probably coming here, and Wheeler says he’s never been more confident that the NHL is returning to Winnipeg than he is right now. Why the digs against DF and jetsowner? What a tool.
This bit was on around 7:30, I'm sure it will be in their podcast version if anyone cares to listen.

Wheeler is a douche. He's gonna get the axe once NHL comes.

Just confirms my "dislike" of him... his on-air personality anyway. And more confirmation for my longstanding Power 97 boycott.

Dude, that whole thing is a giant joke. He did not diss anyone, Hell he even put his wife in a group because she said yes to marry him. Waste of a thread!

Wheeler is an idiot.
His tweet that says this is the most realistic talk in 15 years...well it's been the exact same talk for the last 2 years, so I'm not sure what has changed for him.

Wheeler is ONLY "on-board" because he hopes his job will be safe. From what I hear, it won't be.
The 5+ mistakes he made during a Moose game a few weeks back was embarassing and noted. He will certainly continue to be in the spotlight with Moose Exec's over the rest of the season.

what mistakes were made? just wondering..... You had to be there. It sounded like he had been drinking... - Introducing segments that weren't even coming up in the game yet... - Talking over game play....etc.... It was pretty brutal.

Obviously the whole bit was supposed to be a joke, I just didn't find it funny, like others on here I'm sure.

You don't like the guy for whatever reason, and that's fine, but a lot of comedy is done at someone else expense. He's just having fun with it.

My understand from an usherette ( might be the wrong thing to call her ) is that nothing but the best is expected from the employees of TNSE for all events. The exec's are very visible in any event I have seen.

Anyways, DF and jetsowner got a mention on the radio and I thought I'd share it. It's not like I hate Wheeler, I was listening to his show after all.

It was a joke. Some people on this site look to stir up stuff for no reason.

I've never had anything against Wheeler. Then again I've never met him. Philly seems like a good guy though, he always tweets me back if I ever tweet him. But hes a Habs fan
