Yeah I saw that... I think they own it, but haven't decided on what to do with it yet...
I don't spend my of my time downtown, but wouldn't that be an ideal place for restaurant/sports bar, or a number of small shops?!?

I don't know if they should tear it down I saw in Montreal some buildings where only the inside was torn down and retrofitted, with the outside remaining the same... I wonder if that would be possible.

They're not tearing it down, they're restoring it and turning it into some kind of dinner theatre. Something like Celebrations I imagine but I would hope a tad nicer environment.

They bought it several years ago and it's being restored to be used as a mix-use venue. It will still be theatre format, being used as a low-mid-sized venue a la the Garrick for concerts and acting as a night club on the weekends.

They should really turn it into a 5-star hotel. You know, to increase the chances of the NHL returning here....
(this is me, rolling my eyes)

They're restoring the Met...for example plaster needs quite a bit of work.

in fact there have been numerous stories on WFP about the conditions Canad Inns have to comply with - such as restoring the building as much as possible to its original state

No one else would pay for it?? That seems to be the only way anyone does anything in this town.

I remember seeing movies at the Met back in the day.
The last movie I saw there was Star Trek IV in 1986.
