hopefully you're talking about the summer olympics(which i know you're not since the summer games are in 2016 and 2020), because it is immpossible for the winter olympics to be held in winnipeg.

when i suggested winnipeg bid for the olympics i meant for the like 2024 olympics, something far enough in the future that vancouvers wouldn't affect us

Well where did Calgary have its skiing events? Banff? Calgary had the skiing at Nakiska for the downhill and Canmore for the cross country. Canmore is the furthest away at 45 minutes from the city limits. The bobsled and skijump was built at a small ski hill within the city that was called Paskipoo and is now known as Canada Olympic park. Nakiska was specially built in Kananaskis country for the games.

no assesippi would do, so would Falcon ridge not a chance...in order to stage the winter olympics, thehost city needs to have real mountains close by. unless we can move some mountains, we will never host the winter games.

no assesippi would do, so would Falcon ridge that's ridiculous...at nagano, which has real mountains, not hills, their were complaints that the downhill was too short... yogi, a winnipeg bid for the nfl would stand a better chance than the winter olympics...try thinking up a better thread...geez...

I wish people would not pollute the forum with these ridiculous threads. If i wanted to pollute up the forum i would of made my olympic thread in return of the jets, not in Winnipeg sports general forum. I DIDN'T MAKE THIS THREAD. someone else did. ps, moving dirt is not impossible, and making it into a pile is common practice

Landscape isn't suited here ... I mean honestly we only live in the prairies with no mountains surpassing 800m *rolls eyes*
PIPEDREAM !!! (not that we cant support it just have the worst location possible for such events !!!)

yogi, a winnipeg bid for the nfl would stand a better chance than the winter olympics. Now you're talking. Let's put in a bid for an NFL team.

How did this poll get any votes for the yes? Sorry dont mean to rag on an opion thats different than mine but come on! Assesipi is comparable to the rocky mountains? ? We live in the prarries guys! I grew up in the Pembina hills/Turtle Mountains. Just cause we call 'em mountains doesn't mean they are mountains. You cant even compare 'em to the Alberta foothills. Its pointless to even fathom the idea. sorry
