Well where did Calgary have its skiing events? Banff? Calgary had the skiing at Nakiska for the downhill and Canmore for the cross country. Canmore is the furthest away at 45 minutes from the city limits. The bobsled and skijump was built at a small ski hill within the city that was called Paskipoo and is now known as Canada Olympic park. Nakiska was specially built in Kananaskis country for the games. woot i lived there for 3 years when i was four years old. Beautiful place

I like it! Really looking forward to the 2010 games in Vancouver though... should be a blast! Here's to hoping that the MTSC has a two week break this time around!

I dont know... all I know is Yogi voted 3 times under different IDs... so really only 3 people voted yes. Ouch! Busted! i honestly didn't do this on purpose, when ever i see a poll i just vote. not like this poll matters much, vancouvers hosting the games 22 years after calgary did, and calgary hoseted 12 years after montreal, so there likely won't be olympics in canada until 2022

Look for the next Olympic games awarded to Canada, to be held in Toronto, ON. They bid on the Summer Olympics back in 96, and have the population and facilities for it to succeed.

they plan to bid for the 2016 games and the 2020 according to wikipedia. they were runner up for the 2008 olympics too and were planning to bid for 2012 until vancouver won the 2010 bid.

This thread is just too funny. Winter olympics in Winnipeg. LOL And even if it were summer Olympics, we just don't have the infrastructure to pull it off. Think about it. We can't even get our city leaders to agree on fricken bus lanes. What we really need is true rapid transit. For those that lived/live in Calgary or Edomnton you know how well that works. People here just say we don't need it because they don't know any better. That issue alone excludes us from any remote possibility of even dreaming of one day pretending to draft a bid in our heads.
