For records (that's vinyl for the young kids) there was only one place, called The Warehouse on North Portage, so this will date me a bit but Streetheart had to be 79 or early 80 went and signed records there

I remember walking downtown to buy the new April Wine record(nature of the beast) at Kelly's records during "Rocktober"....every year october became Rocktober. Can't rember exact location, but it was right in the heart of Portage/Main area. Mother's music used to be really cool. After many years, all albums were moved to basement to make room for the arcade that was there for many years after music shop died. It was right across from Portage Place, now it's gone to make room for Hydro building. So now I think that all old arcade buildings have all become dust. To bad, so many memories. Pinball, Pac-man, Paperboy, Tron, etc. aaahhhhh.

Oh it sure was! Star Time was awesome, and so was Bill's Video which was a video store on Henderson where Triple B's was now located. They were great for having rare games for the original Nintendo

Bill's video also used to have the old post office building right in front of St. James Collegiate. They moved it back about 100 yards into what was an old Safeway split in 3 businesses. Your right, Bill's had absolutely everything you could ask for.......and what I believe was the first guy to give free popcorn while you browsed.

Back in the day "SuperValu" was the place for groceries, toys, video games and pretty much everything..now its known as SuperStore but back then it had those old school "I Love No Name" balloons and tshirts and even those little toy trucks. Those ghetto carts with the yellow handles and those god awful yellow bags hahah...
If you guys want to know..the bread is the only thing thats made at the superstores..the rest are frozen'd up from Calgary and shipped to Winnipeg..
Back in the day they used to make the donuts, cakes, pastries in the stores..now they're frozen'd and shipped here....awful!

and JC Penny isn't in Canada at all...
I'm gonna add Darkzone (which is now nothin) and Chuck E Cheese (which I heard turned into a strip joint, not sure if it still is).
Man how I wish that old McDonald's was still around. It was the BEST design of any of them. One of a kind. The Eaton Centre has something that reminds me of it. Why couldn't Winnipeg keep its cool-looking location?

and Chuck E Cheese (which I heard turned into a strip joint, not sure if it still is). You are probably thinking of "Coyotes", the nightclub on south Pembina. However, it was never a stripclub. Believe me, I would know!

Believe me, I would know! You are right, not a strip club at all, but then the women don't wear too much clothing there at all either

hmm I suppose we shold add the Winnipeg Arena to the list. What about the Manitoba Children's Museum's first location, in some run-down warehouse district? I hear they have a Jets section in their current digs! A lot of Pizza Huts are disappearing... and you can't get p'zones anywhere anymore. Geez these weren't the things I was going to add at all, but I can't remember what I was going to say!
