Gary Green was good at color commentary at Jets games for CKY-TV. He was a very likeable personality to him. I remember him having some sort of 30 minute TV show on TSN in the early 90's that promoted fair play. Perhaps the most infamous moment for Gary Green came when Don Cherry challenged him to a fistfight at a local charity event (to which Green accepted), after a heated argument. However, it was broken up, as the 2 men were headed for the door. I think it happened around 92' if I am not mistaken... Gary recently coached Team Canada at the 2003-04 Spengler Cup in Switzerland and won it. It was good to see him finally win something.

Not many people wanted the Capitals job at the time so sometimes giving a young guy a shot is a good thing. That's an understatement. Check out the Caps' first years in the NHL: 1974-75: 8-67-5 (21 points) 1975-76: 11-59-10 (32 pts) 1976-77: 24-42-14 (62 pts) 1977-78: 17-49-14 (48 pts) 1978-79: 24-41-15 (61 pts) 1979-80: 27-40-13 (67 pts) 1980-81: 26-36-18 (70 pts) Gary Green 1981-82: 26-41-13 (65 pts)* Gary Green *Green was fired 13 games into the 1981-82 season

Too bad because he missed the years when they A. finally got Langway and B. finally drafted decent players for once.
