Salt Lake City?? Who the heck here voted for them? Must have been the weed tonight. Salt Lake City isn't as far-fetched as you think. Hockey is fairly ingrained in the culture of the central US Rockies (Colorado/Utah). Wherever skiing is king, hockey can't be too far behind.

KC will get their second chance, just like us and QC. I don't think so. KC is another Atlanta. Besides, once Winnipeg, QC, and Hamilton get their teams I think the whole south of Pittsburgh experiment should forever be put to the stop. It's really interesting with KC. St Louis works, why wouldn't KC? It's strange how some southern teams work and some dont. Tampa and Carolina work (due to them winning Cups) yet Atlanta, Florida, and Nashville (to an extent) are brutal. But out West, LA, San Jose, and Anaheim have huge success, whereas Phoenix and Dallas (again to an extent) have nothing going.

Isles are likely going to Queens if the Lighthouse project fails. Kansas City is a long shot. Not much for fan interest.Hamilton will not happen because of T.O. and Buffalo (even though they should have a team) I like Milwaukee, Seattle, and Las Vegas as my favorites for expansion. True enough however that didn't stop the NHL from putting teams in Phoenix, Atlanta, Florida etc. They want to "grow the game" don't you know.

I really want Hartford back. I know they're not ready but it would be nice to have the Whalers back before anywhere else. Toronto is going to fight tooth an nail to keep a 2nd team out of either TO or Hamilton. In the end, I think KC will get the next team after us and Quebec City. I want Hartford back just for the Logo and jerseys. Those were amazing!

Look how hard the NHL has fought to keep the 'Yotes in PHX -- now imagine what they'd pull out for the Islanders.... a 1 time dynasty... and former fav team of the commish -- No way does the NHL ever give up that legacy and footprint in the #1 media market in the world. Islanders will never move. I gotta agree with you here. The only place I see the Islanders moving to, is Brooklyn. (which you can't even consider that relocation, its the same as PHoenix moving to Glendale)

Let's wait until Quebec city gets a team first...
Until they get a team after Winnipeg, they are second in my mind
After that it depends on who is willing to own a team in another market, if a team is available, and if that mRket has an NHL building.
So far, only qc looks to have all the needed pieces.

I like Milwaukee, Seattle, and Las Vegas as my favorites for expansion. LMAO!! Uhh...ok. Las Vegas would probably succeed, it's a tourist town.

I like Milwaukee, Seattle, and Las Vegas as my favorites for expansion. LMAO!! Uhh...ok. I went to the Frozen Fury game in Vegas in October and it was awesome. You wouldn't believe how many people were wearing LA Kings and Avalanche gear that day. The atmosphere before and at the game was 100X better than any Moose game, and that's for an exhibition game. Just think if our Jets were palying in Vegas, how many Winnipegers would go down there to watch the game and make a weekend out of it. I know I would. If by some miracle we don't get our team back, I plan on going back to Vegas every year to watch the Frozen Fury game.

If the NHL were to expand by two teams, I would love to see Hamilton and Seattle be awarded teams.

Do not think you are at the end of the road until you are actually at the end of the road.

Over saturated sports market. The KC Royals (baseball) cannot draw flies. Additionally, the city of Kansas City wanted to show the NHL it could support NHL hockey a few years ago. They really pushed for a sellout, but only got 13,000 people out to attend the exhibition NHL game.

Las Vegas would probably succeed, it's a tourist town. Not to mention no pro sports competition.

You actually want to get rid of Washington, Philly, St Louis, LA, Sharks, Avalanche, Columbus etc.? You may not like southern expansion, but there's still a lot of hockey playing areas south of Pitts. Three of the top ten teams this season in attendance are south of Pittsburgh (Philly, Blues and Caps) There's 16 teams in the league that are south of Pittsburgh.

As long as the Leafs exist Hamilton will never get a team. I'd bet the Leafs would ask for a half billion relocation fee. Hubris? Maybe. But Hamilton will never happen.

And on topic, I like Milwaukee for a team, but they'd need to replace the Bradley Centre.

In Canada: Hamilton Toronto #2
In USA: Seattle (especially since they lost the Sonics) Portland Milwaukee (they're huge fans in Wisconsin, almost as big as Minnesota)

Surprised that Hartford wasn't at least a poll option. They want their Whalers back.

True, but MLSE may be about to get new majority ownership. Which leaves for the possibility that they'll have a different viewpoint (though it'd be unlikely). Another possibility is that the current owners have word that the monopoly isn't enforceable, and that the NHL is willing to move a team into that region if it becomes necessary. So sell MLSE while the value is at its peak, because 5 years down the line there could be competition in the market. It is also possible that it'll never happen. If it does, I'd suspect Toronto gets the team over Hamilton, with the second team renting dates at the ACC from MLSE. Similar to the situation in LA.

Especially not if they try to get closer to the ACC, that would only impact the Leafs fanbase more. The Leafs are the richest, most powerful team in the league. It may be legally unenforceable, but they will carry weight amongst the BOG. And with Buffalo and Detroit in the area, that complicates things further. Southern Ontario's only hope for a second team is Kitchener-Waterloo. No way. They failed to move the Penguins there in the late 80s, and Balsillie again two years ago.
