Coyotes and Thrashers aside, there are many other teams up for sale and the strong possibility of the New York Islanders relocating when their lease with the Nassau Coliseum expires in 2015.
Other team in financial trouble include the Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, Dallas Stars, etc.

Better poll question: How long before this thread gets added to the locked-thread graveyard?

Hamilton and Seattle would be welcome additions.

Better poll question: How long before this thread gets added to the locked-thread graveyard? I can see it moved but why lock it?

Atlanta to Seattle could replace Phoenix in the Pacific, keep Vancouver in Northwest, and move Minnesota to Central, while Detroit moves East

Better poll question: How long before this thread gets added to the locked-thread graveyard? Touche, but sometimes when threads are moved, the locked logo will appear anyway (if the thread stays on this page) ;D

I hate to break it to you, but the Islanders aren't going anywhere.

I hate to break it to you, but the Islanders aren't going anywhere. Brooklyn Islanders? There is talk around the Island that the NHL and Wang are gonna work out something to keep the Isles in Nassau County. Brooklyn is another option but from what I heard the arena that is currently being built in Brooklyn won't be a hockey efficient arena.

I hate to break it to you, but the Islanders aren't going anywhere. I heard they are very close to a deal to build a new arena in Queens. The Islanders are allowed to be located anywhere on Long Island, so it wouldn't require any type of a vote to move there.

The Islanders have not had decent attendance since the 80's and they're going to build them a new arena in Queens? Haven't they learned from Glendale's mistake?
What the hell was wrong with Brooklyn? More wasted tax dollars.

The whole Queens idea was thrown out the window because Wang was going to partner with the Wilpons who own the New York Mets. But eventually, the Wilpons were one of the many people who got screwed over with the whole Bernie Madhoff scandal and now financially, they're screwed. They will most likely stay in Long Island. And nosunbelt, they haven't had good attendance because of the way they play. They had a very good attendance year the 3 years they were in the playoffs for 02, 03, and 04 but that's about it. And considering they've been playing very well in the 2nd half, they've managed to have over 13,000 in the majority of the games and sold out the last 3 games of the season.

I hate to break it to you, but the Islanders aren't going anywhere. How can they possibly stay on Long Island? The Lighthouse Project is dead. Is it going to be revived?

KC will get their second chance, just like us and QC.

KC will get their second chance, just like us and QC. I don't think so. KC is another Atlanta. Besides, once Winnipeg, QC, and Hamilton get their teams I think the whole south of Pittsburgh experiment should forever be put to the stop.

Isles are likely going to Queens if the Lighthouse project fails.
Kansas City is a long shot. Not much for fan interest.
Hamilton will not happen because of T.O. and Buffalo (even though they should have a team)
I like Milwaukee, Seattle, and Las Vegas as my favorites for expansion.

I really want Hartford back. I know they're not ready but it would be nice to have the Whalers back before anywhere else.
Toronto is going to fight tooth an nail to keep a 2nd team out of either TO or Hamilton.
In the end, I think KC will get the next team after us and Quebec City.

Look how hard the NHL has fought to keep the 'Yotes in PHX -- now imagine what they'd pull out for the Islanders.... a 1 time dynasty... and former fav team of the commish -- No way does the NHL ever give up that legacy and footprint in the #1 media market in the world. Islanders will never move.
