I can't believe the brilliance of Bettman!
Finds Hulsizer for the Coyotes. Runs him through the whole ownership game. Puts him to the ultimate test (aside from making him pay the full price of a franchise). Sets the deadline for the CoG to complete the deal (knows it's a long shot at best with GWI sitting in the weeds). If Phoenix works out for Hulsizer, Winnipeg gets Atlanta. If Phoenix doesn't work out, Winnipeg gets Phoenix and Hulsizer gets...Atlanta? Suddenly 2 problems are solved.
Just thinking out loud and been a long day... maybe not thinking all that clearly.

You must be thinking clearly because that scenario would require 2 things that missing...2 very important things.
1 - MH has enough money to purchase an NHL franchise
2- MH actually would put up his own money if he had it
I can't see MH interested in purchasing another team - unless he can flip it in a few years for mega bucks. IMHO he is not in this for the long term, he's looking to make some dough by selling. Phx works well for him because he's not really putting any money in, and can sell (within 4 years) before he really has to put any of his money in.
Bonds don't sell, he's out. If he has to put any significant money in - to close this deal without the guarantee he sees it back, he's out. He's not an owner like MC, he's an investor wanting to make money on his investment, then get out. All his talk about being there for many years, blah, blah, blah - no chance. He is not a white knight for Gongdale.
I'm actually hoping this sale happens, he bails within 5 years and Gongdale is then completely screwed. They pay somewhere near a 1/2 billion dollars for a vacant arena. In the meantime, we've supported 4 yrs of NHL hockey out of MTSC thanks to Atl.
