"Sports Capital of the World" Get real, you big dufus ! If Spirit of Atlanta can't make a go of it and they control all of the revenue streams, how can a new/local Thrasher ownership group who would have to pay rent to Spirit of Atlanta and not have control of all revenues be expected to do better ? Absolutely economic insanity ! You already lost one NHL franchise. 'Nuff said. Personally, if I had my druthers, I still would prefer getting the Coyotes (even if old sentimental reasons are a big factor). By the way, when are the danged bonds being issued/sold ? End of Rant ! ;D It can't. Their only hope is that group Kincade is talking about that wants to purchase both teams and the arena. So the Thrashers hope is set on someone wanting to purchase an NBA team heading straight into a lockout. A team with attendance ranked 25th in the league.

Reminds me of the "I bet I can get 1,000,000 Newfies" group (or something around those lines). Population of Newfoundland: 509,200

the official number for the phx coyotes fan page thing.. dont go by that.. their official fb page for the team has way way way more than the wpg jets one does.. it has 39,794 ppl on it.. altho i will admit that still pretty low for a team thats actually playing. lol and the atlanta page has 19,816 fans .

I totally forgot about the rally!!!! Wonder how it turned out? I really hope there is some coverage so we can get a good laugh! But like I said; NASCAR is on(in Phoenix of all places) so I don't think there will be a big turn-out!

Our good buddy Reg Dunlop sorry John Kincade has been tweeting again - I guess the NDA doesn't apply to him. $10 says he had Slap Shot in his Netflix queue this week.
@johnkindcade I am more confident than ever that the prospective BUYER, not group, is excited and progressing in pursuit of teams and arena. Sunny day!
Until the NBA reporters pick up this story I'm not taking this seriously. No one buys a team with a lockout on the horizon.

And all these empty seats today against the Leafs; a team that typically draws at least near-sellouts wherever it goes... for shame. Wait! It's Sunday afternoon, isn't there some college basketball on or something? Maybe all the fans showed up at the rally and forgot to go to the game...
Also, another knock against ESPN radio, I was driving home from work at 2:30am this morning waiting for the Sportscenter update at 2:40 to hear the results of the 'Nucks/Bruins, only to hear a 4minute update consisting of (in order of appearance) College basketball, NBA, and (wouldn't you know it) NASCAR. WoW. Not a mention of the NHL at all. Glad we can get all the NASCAR updates we can handle in Winnipeg, no matter the time of day.... GEEZ!!!

The thing that I find funny is that when Gearon pressed the panic button, everyone and their dog that are fans of the team were begging and pleading for people to fill the arena for the games and this and that, but since there's been rumblings of a potential for owners, people are back to "I have too much work to do" or "I'm out of town" or whatever to justify why they aren't bothering to go to games.
It sounds like a lot of them have a case of S.E.P syndrome if you ask me...

I just logged on so maybe I missed something, but this supposed rally was the same afternoon as their game? If people are walking back to their cars are they part of a rally, because if so I was part of a Disney on Ice rally this afternoon and I didn't even know it.
