... in front of less than 12,000 fans, which is a) pathetic for a game against Detroit and b) one of their best crowds this year

Personally I would love to see the Coyotes be sent back to Winnipeg where they belong. But having said that people are horribly unfair on Phoenix. They had great attendance when they played at America West. The biggest mistake was putting an arena 45 minutes out of town. Maybe in time when the population grows in that area it will be better. The attendance right now needs to be put in perspective and without an owner that stands up to say I am keeping the team in Phoenix and doing the right things to make the team competitive, we should not judge. Phoenix needs a fair shake. They need proper ownership and a winning team. Hardly any market would draw fans after losing for so long.

I would have no problem driving 45 minutes to watch the NHL, nor would any other Canadian! ;D

Not an excuse, the Cardinals get good attendance and their stadium is across the street.

Easy drive on a Sunday morning.

do they, or dont they. that is the question. do they want NHL hockey or not? if you do, then make the drive, plain and simple. its always an excuse and im sick of hearing it.

Easy drive on a Sunday morning. Do they have to scrape their windshields and warm up the car for 15 minutes too before heading out the 'yotes games? Sounds like they have a lot of lame excuses to not support their team.

To go to Quebec Remparts games, which are played at the former Nordiques arena, it takes me between 1 hour 15 mins and 2 hours using two city bus, then 2 hours to come back home at night. During rush hours, sometimes just to go from the university to the Pepsi Coliseum it takes up to 45 minutes. The arena is not even located in Quebec city proper area, it's located in the former city of Limoilou, which merged with the former in 2002 and has a population of 45K. That distance and the lack of a car won't stop me from going at games.
Ottawa Sens arena is apparently located in the middle of nowhere too, and despite not filling the building, the team draws solid crowds no matter what

To me it makes no difference if it's downtown or the edge of the city i'll still go to the game.

have you noticed that the refs are calling less penalty fouls on the coyotes...
the game on thursday, there were calling more penalties on the red wings than the coyotes....
some conspiracy theorists believe the league is behind in keeping the coyotes in phoenix by not calling penalties on them...

If they get fans all year they will stay......very sad, but possibly very true

If the Coyotes get fans all year it won't matter. They will still leave... who would want to buy such a risky business with such a brutal track record (lost HUNDREDS of MILLIONS since 1997).
What would be the average attendance to say they got fans all year anyhow? 8000-9000 per game= still brutal

Your stretching it now. Not a chance. And they are not called penalty fouls. Just penalties.
