www.fromtherink.com/2009/10/8/1077423/phoenix-coyotes-president-andPhoenix Coyotes President and Chief Operating Officer Douglas Moss announced today that the Coyotes’ 2009-10 Home Opener versus the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, Oct. 10 is sold out. "The fan response to the ‘Welcome Back WhiteOut’ offer has been tremendous and we’d like to thank everyone for their support," said Moss. A limited number of standing-room only tickets in the upper level will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for $15. The tickets are available only through www.phoenixcoyotes.com or at the Jobing.com Arena Box Office. ------------- Of course, average ticket prices were $20, which starts the team off in a financial hole. But the first game sold out and also a "white out" (not really, since they are just handing out white shirts), is good marketing. Definitely a win-back-the-fans thing. We'll see if the fans come back and pay real ticket prices...

Nothing to get down about...
Mark my words: It'll go from a sellout at $20.00 a ticket...to 7,000 next game..

This does not mean a single thing, tickets in the whole lower bowl were $25 each, EVERYWHERE, everywhere in the upperbowl was $15 each. Moose tickets are probably more expensive.

Who cares if its a sellout when the tickets are so cheap!!! They will still lose millions a month even if they get sellouts every game if the average ticket it 20-25$

I just don't understand how they think these prices will help them. They'll be losing more money than they were before. On the TSN site they're talking about that group that wants to buy the team and keep them there. In reality, who is a dumb enough idiot to want to buy the team and keep it there?

Even if no more tickets are avaliable, I wouldn't be surprised if there were still empty seats at that game... (season tickets holders not going at all games plus people who got tickets for free and won't use them)

Coyotes sell out home opener
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Phoenix Coyotes have sold out their home opener Saturday night against Columbus.
The sellout is due largely to lowering all upper bowl ticket prices to US$15.
The Coyotes, whose ownership is still the subject of bankruptcy proceedings, have made the event a "Welcome Back Whiteout" promotion. Everyone in attendance at the 18,000-seat Jobing.com Arena will receive white T-shirts and pompoms.
A few hundred standing room-only tickets remained on Friday.

At least it's being made known WHY they are selling out! $15.00 and less tickets! Just another rediculous campaign to start off their final year in the desert.

The pom poms and t shirts will take a further bite out of the already small gate total! Even at 3 bucks each the net is only $12.

The NHL needs to adopt the NFL/European soccer rule where the home team chooses the jersey they wish to wear. It creates a strong tie to a jersey. You almost never see the Dallas Cowboys wear their blue jersey. And in years past, the Cardinals, Browns and Colts (remember the Eric Dickerson era, white pants, white jersey, white helmet, white facemask?) have done the same thing. Same for soccer, a certain color has a strong association with the club. I personally hate the third jersey phenomenon. Most people in Winnipeg, I feel, associate the Jets with white, not blue.
