tsn.ca has a great clip of the stj rally vs. stc rally. I love the old lady who spoke on behalf of saving the coyotes. Perfect... just perfect.

Well you guys may think it was pathetic and Coyotes fans are stupid for trying to keep the NHL in the desert. I can tell you that nobody caries what you or your favorite source the great "Toronto Star" thinks in regards to the Coyotes fan's. Toronto Star is a classic example of yellow journalism at it's finest. They are so obsessed with "taking one back from the states". In regards to the size of the rally well considering it was held at a restaurant.....there were only allowed to have so many inside due to fire department codes. You probably don't have that sort of regulation up there. Remember Jets fans knew the potential fate of the team and had at least a year and half to prepare for the big 35,000 rally back then. We only had around 10 days. Hopefully this coming Tuesday, we will find out that size doesn't matter.

Here's what she said "Born in Toronto Canada, Saw my first hockey geee, team at the old maple leaf stadium, Go Teeter Kennedy, but I came to Arizona, and guess what, this our team, it belongs in Phoenix, Toronto has a team and ban blackberries…" Who the h ell is teeter kennedy, OLd maple leaf stadium oh lord, she belongs down there!

I for one wouldn't ridicule any fan that shows up to support his/her team and I really feel bad for the true Coyotes fan...I know all too well how they feel. I would add though that your comment basically suggests that we had from mid 1993 to 1995 to plan for the Jets rally. MEC falling apart and Spirit of Manitoba picking up was within a matter of weeks, not years. The 1995/96 season was moot as outside owners already had the team and promised that it would be anywhere but Winnipeg for 96/97. So you have not quite characterized our 35,000 rally correctly. It came together very fast and pretty much spontaneously as a show of support for Spirit of Manitoba & the Jets.

Sorry I don't mean to jump all over you...just that statement makes me think a conversation like this occurs in phoenix: "Want to go to the rally at the restaurant?" guy 1 "Well yes, but I don't think we can all fit in" guy 2 "Correct, we better not go or we might be turned away to building codes" guy 1 "What about the parking lot?Can we crowd around there?" guy 2 "Well it's not the restaurant though..." guy 1 "Good Point, always play it safe with building codes" guy 2

While I dont think, most of us likely dont think that it's pathetic for the fan's to have a rally to try and save the Yote's.Cause they are some true fan's of the team, what bothers us/me is the amount of fan's that care to try and save them. Yes we knew the team had a good chance of moving after the 94/95 season,at the time of are so called funeral on May 6th 1995 no rally was in place, nothing at all, we had givin up hope the team was gone. But then we were givin a slim glimmer of hope, and then TEN day's later on May 16th 95 we had a rally where a few ppl showed up!

Who the h ell is teeter kennedy, OLd maple leaf stadium oh lord, she belongs down there! I thought she meant Ted Kennedy, how old was that woman,he hasn't played in like 50 years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Kennedy_(ice_hockey)And there was a Maple Leaf Stadium that the Toronto Maple Leaf's played in,only problem is that is was a baseball team and stadium of the same name.

Oh wow! Sorry 'bout my last post....I received a 2 PM from some people here and one of them sort of pissed me off. That big rally Winnipeg had in the past was awesome. Whether it took place with 1 1/2 years or just 2 weeks doesn't matter it was truly impressive. I am truly jealous that a rally like that will not happen here.

I saw several. The one in this vid was Domi. I was surprised how cool a hockey jersey feels even when it's hot.

Gary said the NHL doesn't abandon their fans, I guess this clears the runway to move them, as they don't have any

I do feel sympathy for the real Coyotes fans. If they do move that would suck for them. But this rally is indicative of the fan support and shows perhaps why attendance is so low. It's possible that 1 in 10 or even 1 in 100 fans went to the rally. Heck lets say 1 in 1000, would give an upper limit of 200,000 fans or so (I highly doubt this).
Winnipeg easily has more paying hockey fans than that that would support the NHL regularly I would think.
Still for fans like USArizona I feel sympathy for you if the team goes. But not enough that I won't be celebrating in the street if they come here.
