the MTS Centre is also up to 19th in the world and 11th in North America for non-sporting events according to CTV News.
There's the potential for us to place higher with Neil Young, Celine Dion (x2), Bob Dylan, Carrie Underwood all expected to draw between 11,000 and 15,000 and about 10 or 12 smaller shows that will still draw 3-6,000 all before the end of the year

I thought all Winnipegger's were cheap and poor and can't afford pro hockey tickets?
Hm. Must be all out-of-towners attending these events.
Also, makes you wonder about the hundreds of events/concerts we missed out on when we had the Winnipeg Arena...

Also, makes you wonder about the hundreds of events/concerts we missed out on when we had the Winnipeg Arena... What this should tell the WORLD ( including some Winnipeggers that still share the same thought ) is: WE ARE NOT A CHEAP CITY!!! Had we had the MTS Centre in 1996 ( or anything better than the Arena ) we would indeed of had much more selection of who wanted to come here! This is just another example of WHY the MTS Centre is a Very Good Thing! Now, just imagine if we still had the Winnipeg Arena and An Empty Eatons Building....

MTS Centre is however, pretty much being wasted sports-wise and hockey-wise (especially compared to markets like Edmonton, Ottawa, and Calgary). It's just capable of so much more than what we have now....
And why are AC/DC and Metallica skipping over Winnipeg on their current tours? Or will they announce Winnipeg dates in the near future? AC/DC is coming to Fargo...

Heard AC/DC Will still hopefully be adding dates....If not before the European leg, it could be after! Who knows, I hope they'd come here again! As far as Metallica; No idea! They probly have info on how many of us in Winnipeg used Napster and have decided not to come here because of it!

But glad to know Winnipeg proves how big league they can get with events... Maybe not FIFA World Cup-sized or Olympic-sized but still very good!

Those Elton numbers will definitely get the attention of a lot of big acts...this is great for our entertainment scene! Would love to see AC/DC again...probably wouldn't measure up to Maiden but would still be a great show. Would be interesting to know how much True North skims off the top. Anyone have some idea?

I would loooove to see AC/DC at the stadium! I have seen them twice at the old arena and would go to MTSC for sure but the stadium would be CRAZY! For all those who love the band but never saw them live you gotta go - you never leave their shows feeling ripped off!
