So I decided to dig through my storage and I found Jets stuff I hadn't seen in over 10 years that I kept in boxes. Holy Shmoly!
First of all, Chris, I have every pocket schedule from 1987-1996. All ticket pricing included (but no arena map...not even in the media guides nor programs that I dug up.
A great program was from April 1988 with Randy Carlyle on the cover. Inside are classic ads for places around Winnipeg but more interestingly were seperate articles on both Dallas and San Francisco as wanting into the NHL and photos were included from Exhibition games that year. Funny how we were so secure as an NHL hockey city and these cities were wanting in. Now how the tides have turned. There are pics of Reunion Arena full and of Cow Palace full.
Also a profile of young Moncton Hawks goalie Bob Essensa.
Classic indeed. Anyway out of the rummaging came goose-bumpy memories and things that put me right back to my bedroom and 10 years old listening to Curt Keilback call the Jets game from an away game. Back when you could never catch a game on TV except for a handful of games on CKND. Unreal. Then you'd wait anxiously for the 11pm highlights and hope to see a few of the Jets goals from the road team's arena.

I would be very interested in reading that article about San Francisco and the NHL. I do have fond memories of the first two years of the Sharks playing at the Cow Palace (or, as we called it, le Palais du Boeuf) until our arena in San Jose was completed.
(Technically, the Cow Palace is in Daly City, not San Francisco, but close enough...)
I don't suppose it's online anywhere, and it's too much to ask you to scan it for me, but still, I'd love to read it. Mind summarizing it for me?

I know it's Daly City. Been to the Bay Area many times, in fact it is my favourite place to visit. Love spending 4 or 5 days in Napa/Sonoma and then a few day in the city.
But the article is titled "The Heart Remains in San Francisco". As you know, most people aren't going to relate to Daly City. Heck it took people long enough to associate San Jose with the Bay Area.
Let me scan the article and send it to you.

I know it's Daly City. Been to the Bay Area many times, in fact it is my favourite place to visit. Love spending 4 or 5 days in Napa/Sonoma and then a few day in the city. As an experienced visitor, then, you know not to be tasting lots of wine in Napa and then trying to drive in San Francisco... driving in "the city" is hard enough when you're SOBER. But the article is titled "The Heart Remains in San Francisco". As you know, most people aren't going to relate to Daly City. Heck it took people long enough to associate San Jose with the Bay Area. Many people *still* don't have this one down. I'm not sure exactly where the confusion lies... San Jose is considerably larger, both population-wise and geographically, than San Francisco. Maybe we need to start calling it the "San Jose Bay Area". ;D All I know is that the current arena site is relatively convenient for me. Daly City would be an hour's drive away. (Plus, the Cow Palace is a dump.) Let me scan the article and send it to you. If you could do this, I'd be much obliged, though I hate to ask you to go to the trouble. UPDATE: I see you already did. Thank you very much!
