In a week when the NHL board of governors meets in Florida to discuss, among other things, the state of the economy – and what to do in the months and years to come – the Columbus Blue Jackets announced an innovative program Monday, enabling customers to spread the cost of their tickets out over time.
It works this way: Called the $10 SUPER VALUE PLAN, it allows fans to purchase two tickets to three desirable weekend games against among other teams, the Red Wings, Blackhawks, Sharks for $10 (all currency U.S.) per week. The plan is on sale until Dec. 28.
Fans can choose from among three available packages: Package 1 includes the following games – Friday, January 16 vs. New Jersey Devils; Saturday, February 7 vs. San Jose Sharks; and Sunday, March 15 vs. Detroit Red Wings. Package 2 features games on Saturday, January 31 vs. Dallas Stars; Saturday, February 21 vs. Anaheim Ducks; and Saturday, April 11 vs. Minnesota Wild. Package 3 offers the following games – Friday, January 30 vs. Ottawa Senators; Friday, February 13 vs. Detroit Red Wings; and Sunday, April 5 vs. Chicago Blackhawks.
The packages available include a pair of tickets in the same seat locations for each game. Packages with seats in the Upper Bowl (Areas E and F) at Nationwide Arena are priced at $150 or $10 per week, while packages with seats in the Lower Bowl (Area C) are $300 or $20 per week. There are no additional ticket fees or postage charges.
The payment plan will work as follows: The first payment will be due at time of purchase and the payment plan will begin on Monday, December 29. Fans can choose either an automatic checking account deduction or credit card charge that will take place every Monday through March 30 (14 weeks). Fans also have the option to pay in full at the time of purchase.
“We understand that the present state of the economy has made things difficult for a lot of people, particularly during the holiday season,” said Blue Jackets' vice-president of marketing Marc Gregory in a statement. “We also believe that even in tough times, people deserve to have fun. We think the $10 SUPER VALUE PLAN will give fans the chance to see great NHL action, while offering a very flexible payment plan.”
