Cross Step #1 Off Your List: Before the season, Doug Berry was looking for a victory in the Grey Cup. Now he's looking for work. After a 29-21 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos in Saturday's East Semi-Final, Berry was fired as head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers today. One year after making an appearance in the Grey Cup, the Blue Bombers struggled to an 8-10 record and second place finish in the East Division this season. In his three years with the Blue Bombers, Berry accumulated 27 wins with the franchise. He took over a team that won five games in 2005 and guided them to a record of 9-9 and a berth in the East Semi-Final. He was named a finalist for Caoch of the Year for his efforts. Last season, the Blue Bombers finished at 10-7-1 and advanced to the Grey Cup. But a broken arm suffered by quarterback Kevin Glenn in the East Final was too much for the Blue Bombers to overcome as they fell to the Sasaktchewan Roughriders at Rogers Centre in Toronto. With Grey Cup aspirations on their minds this season, the Blue Bombers went winless in their first four starts and struggled to a 1-6 record by midseason. Despite winning their last two regular season games, the Blue Bombers became the first East Division team to drop a cross-over playoff game. tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=255620&lid=headline&lpos=topStory_main

Cross Step #1 Off Your List: Doug Berry (Nice gift Taman gave him, a 3 year contract extension signed last summer, rumoured all season and finally made public only after the playoff loss!) #2 is Taman. (or Bauer, if he won't fire Taman.) #3 is Glenn. A QB just good enough for the starter's job but not just not good enough overall. Once those three are gone, only then will I consider season tickets. And until then, I mourn for my Blue and Gold. And people wonder why the GreenRiders sold out a playoff game quicker than the Blue? The season was over when they went to 0-4 as any real shot at winning the Cup was clearly gone then. Once this happened, all QB work should have went to backup QB's to see if they could develop into a real #1. I look forward to see if we can pry one of the less-hyped QB's out of Hamilton or maybe I'm dreaming . . . QB Durant out of Regina. Chris
