tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=248881&lid=headline&lpos=secStory_mainThe Canadian Football League's two worst teams shook things up on Monday when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers traded defensive end Tom Canada and the rights to defensive end Corey Mace to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in exchange for linebacker Zeke Moreno. Canada, playing in the blue and gold his entire CFL career, is not happy with the trade and has said he won't report to Hamilton. The league is currently working on the situation in hopes of ironing things out. Canada is coming off one of the most dominating performances by a CFL lineman in 2007, leading the team in quarterback sacks with 12 in 17 games. Canada also played in his first ever Grey Cup in 2007, collecting a pair of quarterback sacks in a losing effort against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Moreno has two years of CFL experience, all with Hamilton who drafted him in 2007. Prior to joining the Ticats, the California native played four seasons with the University of Southern California Trojans. Mace is on the Buffalo Bills' practice roster in the National Football League. The Port Moody, B.C., native was signed by the Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2007. Also on Monday, the Bombers came to terms with defensive end Kai Ellis who was released by the Alouettes last week. Terms were not disclosed. The six-year CFL veteran also has experience playing linebacker in a career that has had previous stops in Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal before landing in Winnpeg. Ellis played the 2003 season with the Stampeders, before being traded to Ottawa where he played 24 games for the Renegades over the next two seasons. He was acquired by the Alouettes in the 2006 dispersal draft and remained with Montreal until last week. Ellis will be reunited with defensive coordinator Greg Marshall and defensive line coach Richard Harris, who held the same posts in Ottawa in 2005. It was Marshall who worked with the now 28-year-old to make the transition to linebacker that season. What the f**k!

This is it for me. Moreno's a good player. But this is what the brainiacs thought the problem was? Tom Canada? Gawd. I can't believe the idiots running this team. What an embarassment. Like I said...this is it for me...until Berry, Taman, Bauer are gone. Yes, all of them. Idiots.

There are many problems on the Bombers. Finally the Taman is doing something to fix it. Sorry, Canada has a cool last name, but he SUCKED this year.
Apparently he doesn't want to go to Hamilton. I'm sure he'll be ok when he realizes they have a decent party scene and lots of donut shops to fill his fat azz.

The entire Bomber organization is a bunch of losers and I could care less if they had a fire sale this off season, including the coaching staff. Blowing that 4th quarter lead was my last straw, the Bombers aren't getting ANY of my hard earned cash this year.

I mean, they blew that lead horribly, but it wasn't this guy's fault... I am really pissed at this trade...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TOM CANADA GONE NO!!!
This is disgusting! CANADA REFUSED MORE MONEY FROM THE ALS TO STAY HERE CAUSE HE LOVES WINNIPEG AND THEY TRADE HIM? I'M TOO MAD AND TIRED TO GO MUCH FURTHER!!
BUT, The trade isnt official according to tsn it hasnt gone through yet, Canada has supposedly been suffering from a medical condition they were unaware of, plus the fact that he is refusing to report there. Both those factors may cause the cats to back out

So....when the Jets start losing & trade a "fan favorite" I guess we all stop buying tickets & supporting them, huh??? This f ucken city is unbelievable. Even this site, where I thought true fans were.........we don't even deserve CFL, nevermind NHL.

Well I'm still supporting the team. In case I missed a meeting, I think I still have the right to voice my displeasure with moves made by team....

So....when the Jets start losing & trade a "fan favorite" I guess we all stop buying tickets & supporting them, huh??? This f ucken city is unbelievable. Even this site, where I thought true fans were.........we don't even deserve CFL, nevermind NHL. Easy for you to say Senner...you're a Red Wings fan. Even they don't have fans who follow blindly as we saw with their empty seats last year. You guys are entitled to your opinion but I think your comment that we don't deserve any team is out of line. You ever hear sports franchises use the phrase "this is a business"? And who pays for it? Look, the Bombers have had a pretty long leash as far as I'm concerned and loyalty is a 2 way street bud. I won't speak for others, but for me it's got nothing to do with trading of a fan favourite...it's about a pattern of not addressing the real issues with the team. My opinion is that there are several weak spots on the team and Tom Canada was not one of them. Roberts arguably was. This is a perennial problem ever since Lyle Bauer has been in charge. I don't run the team so there's only one way I can vote for or against management. Remember David Asper getting thrown out for "expressing" his displeasure with the way management was running the show? Is he what you'd call a fair weather fan? I guarantee, if the new NHL teams keeps beating the same incompetent drum year after year after year without making changes that at least attempt to address the actual weak spots then in time I will surely stop supporting the direction they're going in. That's the ONLY way positive change happens so that's my contribution as a fan....force change the only way I can. Good example of how your line of thinking of blind unconditional support doesn't work...Leafs. You think they'd be so inept for so many decades if the attendance started to wane? Blind fan support is actually part of their problem...probably their biggest problem. However, that said...I was always a Jets fan and supported them through thick and thin...the reason being that I knew a lot of their problems weren't their fault (e.g. WEC), poor revenue potential, etc. I just hoped that we could hold on long enough to get those problems resolved. We tried...either you weren't around or don't remember that.

Well said Ric O. I'm sick of the stupid penalties, dumb coaching decisions, basically the Bombers in a nutshell this year. At least when Reinbold was here there seemed to be a strong effort put forth every game, this team had such high expectations and on paper they've got some incredible talent. They should NOT be this bad, its frustrating and I won't support them the rest of the year.

We tried...either you weren't around or don't remember that. Thanks, Ric O...nice response. I agree we certainly don't have to follow blindly, but to with hold financially?? How can that cause "positive" change? I don't feel not going, or supporting the team helps in anyway. Go to the game, & complain while your there. The "Boo-birds" have always seemed to work. I just don't agree with the atitude that because we don't agree with coaching/managment, we withhold our support. I wanna quickly touch on Canada also. I disagree, I for one thought he was having a terrible year. Watching Calvillo blow by him early in the season was my first clue that Tommy isn't interested. Watching Bishop dance by him & throw while doing it was the final straw. If I was Taman/Berry, I would have puuled that same trade in a heartbeat. But, as a fan of sports in general, I fully realize that we, as fans will never agree with every move, scheme, jersey choice, practice schedule, etc. we must take it as a game. Sure it's a business, but eveyone involved is paid to win. The more you win, the more money you make (in general) so , even if we think the managment is wrong, I sure don't think they are trying to lose. As for my "we don't deserve a team" call, my bad. But, listening to the fans in this city over the last two weeks, wow. Even Mr. Asper has taken shelter.

i think it's a good thing when the fans speak up. especially when things are not going well. it shows that the fans are passionate. tell me, honestly, do you ever hear the goldeyes fans?.....me neither. they had a crap year and i havent heard a thing from the fans. no passion. you cannot say the same thing about the bomber fans. we need to get rid of berry, or at the very least the offensive coordinator. then Glenn can go too.
