The biggest positive that could effect the return of the Jets is the deep pockets of a broadcaster and the synergy that exists between broadcasters and sports.
I believe Flames and Oilers operate on A-Channel. If CanWest came on board as a major owner of the Jets, they could gain the television rights for free (in exchange for their investment into the team). With their vast Western Canadian TV empire, they would be able to command top dollar for advertising of Jets games across Western Canada.
Another option is MTS which has gobs of cash. While they lack a Canadian-Wide presence, their emerging power within Manitoba in TV would be an ideal fir for them.
Perhaps even a combination of both with CanWest doing all the broadcasting and MTS having exclusive rights to air PPV home games in Manitoba.
I saw someone post that with sell outs in every game, the team would still just barely match a proposed salary cap. While the NHL is gate-driven primarily, there are plenty of revenue streams for resourceful teams to take advanatage of, especially in Winnipeg which is home to Global and MTS.

Actually, Flames games are only really broadcasted on Sportsnet, TSN, and CBC. I, unfortunately, reside in Calgary and can attest to A Channel not showing Flames games, just hilights.
