Whether it be Pittsburgh or Florida or Tampa Bay... will 2007 by "the year" for us?
Will we be watching NHL hockey (our own team)W @ the MTS Centre this October? Will our ownership group purchase a team by next December? Or is 2008 or a little later more realistic?
I say the odds are slim for '07, but there is a chance

NO unfortunately, but stranger things have happened.
Pittsburgh will probably stay in that city and, if not, they'll end up in KC with Lemeiux's buddies running the show...
Tampa Bay ain't going anywhere...they're quite successful for the time being...
I'd keep an eye on Florida, Nashville and Atlanta...(the later two may have ownership issues)
...Phoenix should throw in the towel but they just built a new arena and brought in dancing girls and a hooters restaurant...

Dancing Girls and a H ters Restaurant...................Oh my! And No, 2007 is too soon, 2008 at the very earliest.

And No, 2007 is too soon, 2008 at the very earliest. Well yeah 2007 is, because if everything goes the way it looks like for relocation of the Pens, they will go to KC, but if KC fails in a couple of years, there's the opportunity. I think if Nashville and Atlanta are candidates we will have to wait until they become weak, they both have strong teams as of now and are getting more fans of course, but who's to beleive those phony NHL attendance numbers huh? Starts up in 2008-2009 team in WPG by 2011.

I voted no, only because I think it may take until 2008 or 2009 for the sky to fall in some U-S markets and Bettman to be thrown under a bus by the owners.

I think 2008-2009 will be the innaugural season. I foresee Florida being the most likely team to fire up the jet engines in Manitoba.

Sure, 2008 is most likely. But the poll is asking is "Is there a chance Winnipeg could buy a team by December 31st, 2007". Basically 1 year from now.
If Florida, Nashville, Atlanta, Tampa, NY Islanders, or Washington go up for sale this spring/summer (assuming they miss the playoffs or make a nice quick exit), it isn't TOO far-fetched...

I wish the Islanders were doing better. A team with such a great tradition as them doesn't deserve their whacky owner.

I think 2008 will still be too early. If anyone KC will get the Pens. I still think a lot of owners are still working with the revenue sharing and salary cap to see if there's a way to maximize their profits (or minimize their losses) despite the lack of attendance.
