well the IOC lost their bid , so the pens are relying on plan B. with that in mind how much would YOU pay to keep them in pittsburgh? or to move them?

it was reported today somewhere (can remember where -- tsn or globe i think) that if IOC did in fact win the license, Basillie would have been required to "top up" his bid by the amount of 15 million so the total would have been $190 million...

Any way you slice it, todays decision brings all future prices including this one back down to earth, GOOD FOR WINNIPEG!

The question is... exactly how much is our Winnipeg ownership group willing to spend? $100-$120 million would seem like a good guess... pure speculation though.

Any way you slice it, todays decision brings all future prices including this one back down to earth, GOOD FOR WINNIPEG! Yes and NO. The problem is if a team has no ties to an arena lease and can theoretically up and leave, provided Buttman stays out of it, they will go for closer to $175M. This price is out of our league, and these are the potential teams we would "bid" for. I have always said our best chance to get a team is to take an existing owner, losing money year after year, to relocate here, (this is after all how this site got started, isn't it.) or EXPANSION.
