Well, the big announcement in Pittsburgh finally occurs on Wednesday (Dec. 20th). Will Isle of Capri be awarded the slots license, therein saving the Penguins?
Personally I hope not... and in a way it'd be nice if they relocated to K.C. or Houston... 1 less city to compete with when the next team goes up for sale.
Because of Crosby and Malkin, the team will sell for a very generous amount of money... too much for our Wpg ownership group from what I hear. But I can see a team like Nashville or Florida selling for many millions less than Pittsburgh...

I think this deal of a brand new arena is a good bargaining chip. I don't know how they could deni the license. Now, if the IOC is denied, Pittsburgh definitly DESERVES to lose there NHL team and should be blacklisted by the NHL forever.
Though, I like the Pens, and I hope they stay in Pittsburgh. That city and franchise is way more respectable than alot of the other NHL franchises.

i voted no b/c i believe the may be "fix" in...however, i think it must be VERY close and could go either way since you see the last minute lobbying going on...Basillie pulling could mean he was concerned he be stuck with the PENS in Pitts @ a cost of $175 million and no free arena...
bottom line: if there is no IOC, I bet the team plays in KC next season...Houston is not on the radar yet...KC has the buyer and the influence at the NHL BOG level in AEG which runs Spirit Centre...and, yes, one less city to worry about next time a cheaper team becomes available...

I'm not sure myself. It could go either way but I voted no. It just seems that the NHL and Lemieux are worried.
Plus, these are Americans that may or may not care about hockey(The people in charge of awarding the licence) and they might not care or even know of the Penguins. Just a thought.

I sure hope they get the license the Penguins are Pittsburgh. Go Jets Go Kansas City they dont deserve an NHL team. It will just be another lame duck U.S. hockey team in a market that doesnt care about hockey. Houston why does the south deserve another NHL team? If for some Go Jets Go up reason the license isnt awarded and the team has to move it should only be to Winnipeg
