me too, though murray lost his sights on the infrastructure. and katz doesn't seem to have vision for the future the way murray did.

Winnipeg has been Very lucky to have Glen Murray followed by Sam Katz, both, in my opinion stellar mayors.

I'll never vote Glenda for anything. So if he was still mayor and had a huge role in getting the NHL back here and also a huge role in getting the Bombers a new stadium, you still wouldn't vote for him because??? I haven't been in Winnipeg long enough for Katz, didn't live here during Murray's tenure (but from what I have seen, he seemed to move the city forward). The worst to me was Norrie, also I was really young when Juba was Mayor, I guess Juba's legacy was allowing alcohol into restaurants and women into bars!

I was young when Juba was mayor but I do recall him being a visionary while the other councillors thought he was a little crazy. Juba was talking about mono-rail transit back in the early '70's. Worst mayor is a tie between Norrie and Thompson. Norrie won only because he never had a serious challenger. A bunch of nobodys including some old fart that had a backyard full of junk ran for mayor. Murray was good in moving the city forward and Sam is successfull in buisness as well as wanting to move the city forward.

Thompson was not as bad as people think. She actually got the ball rolling on a lot of changes that Murry took credit for. I'm not saying she was great, but definitly not as bad as you might have been told. As for Juba, he was truly the best Mayor the city ever had. He spearheaded many new ventures in the city and created parkland where there was nothing but junk. Basically, he beautified a city that was going to hell in a handbasket. Our last mayor Mr. Murray did jack diddly but continued a few of the things Thompson started. He then squashed a few good ideas and tried to green light some terrible ones. (see garbage pick up) He added nothing to this city and continually left the impression that growth was not an option. Katz i believe is on the right track but quite frankly I believe personally that he needs a few terms to really get anything done. he's learning as he goes.

Glen Murray may I remind you all, wanted to create a MST, Municipal Sales Tax, in addition to PST and GST, he also gave us those beautiful Red light cameras that apparently we had all been asking for, huh I don't remember saying that, he also wanted to add a 5 cents a litre city tax at the pumps, as if gas wasn't expensive enough already, and here's the BEST ONE of ALL..........are you ready for it, when he was on CITY COUNSIL, He did everything in his powers to assure the Jets didn't get the funding they needed from the City to build a new arena, him and those Compost Heap loving Harvey Smiths and Tim Sales of the world, remember those names, and I quote :ooooh Tax Payers don't want their money to be used to support professional athletes and the places they play in", GET BENT GLEN!
Fast forward to 2003 when Glen was now Mayor, He's now suddenly onside with building a new arena, in fact he could hardly wait to break ground on the MTS Centre, why, Political Motive.....LOOK WINNIPEG, I GOT YOU THE ARENA YOU NEEDED ALL THESE YEARS, kinda always saw the New Arena thing as a Monument to his legacy, only once it was politically convienient! Little too late for my vote GLENNY boy.........................................................
Juba gets my nod for Past Mayor, and Sam for present, although Sam needs to pull it together soon, we expect result from him, ROADS ROADS ROADS!

Even if Glenda got the Jets back, I still would never like him. Many call me politically incorrect and I'm fine with that but I never liked or voted for Glenda.
He's also the same mayor who wanted a bunch of taxes added to our everyday lives, make us now pay EXTRA for things we've paid for with our property taxes and many more idiotic things which would have made his budget easier since he didn't know how to properly work everything in the first place.

Many people forget that Murray played a strong role in supporting the Jets leaving Winnipeg in the first place.

Many people forget that Murray played a strong role in supporting the Jets leaving Winnipeg in the first place. Many people forget what Murray believed in because what be believed changed with the weather. He was STRONGLY against keeping the Jets as councilor, but flip flopped when he had the big chair. He railed against the Moray St bridge as a councilor but trumpeted it as his big contribution to St James when he was running for MP. Speaking of which, does anyone else remember his commitment to stay on as mayor and NOT run federally? Maybe my age is showing, but my vote goes with Juba. Sammy hasn't had enough time to establish his spot in the pecking order.
