and to keep on topic I was thinking of an Idea that the NHL could instate. What do you guys think if the nhl would send the last two teams into the AHL and the AHL would send its top two teams up to the NHL. I think this would greatly increse competion within the leagues. I dont think this could be done because of the fact of the afflicts that the AHL teams have with the NHL teams. Manitoba Moose Vrs the Canucks

This is an interesting idea, but you're right - since the AHL is a farm league, it wouldn't really work. It would have been neat when the IHL was still around and had a lot of independent teams. It's common in Europe to have a A, B, and even C league with teams moving up and down each season. I think the NCAA does the same with Div 1/Div 2 schools.

That would be a good idea but there isnt the correct system set up in north america for that. First there is the problem ao that most if not all the AHL teams are farm teams of NHL teams so how could they play in the same leauge and I do not believe the NHL owners would sign off on that as they would no longer have the same revenue streams if they were to go into the other leauge.
Then there in the problem of salaries, how will nhl teams with high salaries be able transition as all other team will have the lower payrolls. Contracts will be forced to have nhl and ahl salaries to coup with this much like the current two way contracts many nhlers have. I also do not see superstars signing off on that either.
Thats my two sense on the subject
