Ovechkin will recover and he'll probably have some good seasons with washington but he will not be a franchise player unless he matures big time. There's no room for that showboating crap in the NHL or else he'll be knocked around big time.

There is no way that I'm gonna change my stance on Ovechkin based on one game. I seriously underestemated this Canadian team... They were really good and showed it tonight. The whole team shut him down, and he went up against a really tough challenge. He showed heart in my books, they effed up his shoulder pretty good. He cried at the end and I was glad to see that this tournament MEANT something to him. Good for Ovechkin, I'll be looking for you in the NHL!

how can a team of western leaguers( for the most part) coached by A SUTTER not scare the gojetsgo out anyone.russians ,im sorry to say dont have the heart that canadians do when it comes to hockey.skills galore, but not enough heart.and all the great nhl dynasties were loaded with talent and heart.like our boy butch goring brought to long island and turned them into champs.ovechtkiv will probably be like kovalov in the nhl.great moves, but lacking.i'd take a sutter any day.

It'll be interesting to see how he plays after back from this tourny. These things have been known to make and break players. I know it wont break him but maybe it will have matured him quite a bit after having it handed to him. Trying to flatten begeron, Ha! I dont think so!

Yeah that was funny. He tried to deck Bergeron twice on the same shift and he ended up getting the worst of it on both hits. Ovechkin is just pure skill and attitude, and that does not make an NHL superstar. To be the complete package you need a strong physical side.

i was rather dissappointed to see him go so soon. i mean, i was expecting him to be knocked out of the game but that early?? maybe he learned a few things from the game.
