In all honesty, the Moose don't "suck"... They are just boring as hell. They have a good team and are doing good (apparently).
Yea yea, of course its because there is no NHL and Vancouver hasn't called up our talent, but hey...
That is one of my biggest problems with them. The affiliation. And of course they are boring as hell...

Ah relax. It's all in good fun.
The Moose team definitely does NOT suck. They have a really great team this year. The Canucks prospects play with great chemistry, and for fans of the team I can see why they'd be delighted with their play this year.
So when I say "The Moose Suck", I don't mean they play poorly, or the hockey quality of the AHL is sub-par.

Blackthorne is right.
THe Moose of 2004-05 will probably be the best AHL hockey we will see ever. When the lockout ends, all the good players like Kesler and Auld will be in Vancouver. I can never accpet that fact that you can't really get too excited about any player, since they will be recalled to the Canucks if they are on a hot streak.

YES, actually it IS wrong. If the Red Sox left Boston and were replaced the AAA affiliate of the NY Yankees I'm sure they'd be loved and embraced. As well they should be! That AAA ball team will be the only pro baseball team in Boston so they just shut up and suffer like the little brats they are.

the biggest concern i have for the canucks is having randy carlyle coaching their prospects.
i mean, from what i hear, they haven't even been practising their "suckerpunch from behind, then drop all your weight on a guy" systems that the big club likes to utilize.
will bertuzzi again have to go it alone when the nhl returns to action ?

I could tolerate being the Calgary Flames or Montreal Canadiens "farm team". Never the Canucks, as I dislike the team almost as much as the Leafs..

Exactly. I have even taken the Oilers on as my favorite team since the Jets left. Even though they were our rivals too even though you hated to had to at least respect them, plus they're our bros from the WHA.
The Canucks on the other hand can go suck a lemon.

i went to the game on saturday(to see the stanley cup and jay bowmeester ;D) and i could not get into the game because the section was filled with kids goofing around and yelling MOOSE MOOSE MOOSE!! it drove me Go Jets Go nuts!! this is the kind of situation that contirbutes to the boring atmosphere. its hard not to get distracted when there are a bunch of little kids yelling, hitting, pinching and just being kids all around youl. the game itself was a good game and i would have enjoyed it had it not been for all the kids. eventually i moved to different seats and watched the rest of the third from there. this is why i hate going to moose games. the hockey is not bad, its not nhl but its not that bad, but i can never get into the games due to the atmosphere of the crowd. that and i simply dont care about the team either.

To be fair to the Moose, I was at the game last Friday against San Antonio, the game was medocre. Entertaining 10 minutes to start the game, boring till the last 5, however the reaction that I saw when the Moose tied the game with 1.5 seconds left surprised me to no end, and they deserved it. People jumped out of their seat, they were yelling and cheering and it was exciting. I myself am more of the type that will sit and clap when something happens but even at the World Juniors or Jets games I never get crazy. I'm also not the type to get drunk at a game either, maybe that's a coincidence, maybe not Anyways I even found myself wanting to jump up when they scored, if it wasn't for the fact my pocket got caught on my arm rest I probably would have. I really don't care if you like the Moose or not, if you think NHL is the only way to go or not, right now there is no NHL. The AHL is the best hockey we can get in North America and the Moose despite the fact they can't win a shootout is still good hockey. Not NHL, but alot better then it has been in years past because you have teams playing with chemistry and consistancy (largly due to no call ups) I am a very strong supporter of the Return of the Jets campaign, but honestly if you open your mind and go to a game with out prejudging your reactions, you'll probably have a good time. I would love to see the Jets return and the Moose remain as our farm team, it would give everyone in Winnipeg what they want. NHL hockey, and for those that want to introduce their kids to hockey and take their family to a game can do so taking them to the AHL. Best of both worlds.

As ironic as this sounds, I probably would not be so critical of the AHL if I had never been to a game. I've been to 6 games in my lifetime, 2 this year. I just can't get over how it was when I was growing up in the 80's/early 90's when we had NHL hockey here. It's like night and day. I cannot explain it really. Iv'e been to WHL and World Junior hockey games, both of which I found very entertaining. I just have never been able to accept second-rate hockey. I have always though of the WHL like the equivalent of College Football in the states, where you know the play isn't necessarily as good as the AHL, but the players seem hungry, and thus, more exciting to watch.
