www.freestanley.com--------------------------- Fighting for Stanley A group is petitioning the trustees of the Stanley Cup for the right to have hockey's holy grail awarded this season. With the NHL on lockout, this will be the first year since 1926 that the cup will remain dormant. The group, which can be found at www.freestanley.com, is urging teams to petition the committee through letters and e-mail. According to history, the cup was awarded to anyone who wanted to challenge for it. The NHL got the award for being considered North America's top hockey league. In Tucson, Ana Henderson, president of the Tucson Chilly Peppers of the Tucson Women's Hockey League, said she had a chance to view the site and, although interested, doesn't think her team, made up of several Northwest players, qualifies for the cup.
