Don't Touch That Dial! Fish To Swim Again On Shaw
Goldeyes fans unable to make it out to the ballpark in 2005 have been given more options to follow their Fish.
The Goldeyes announced their television schedule today, one that will see them appear 16 times on Shaw Cable, including 14 games from CanWest Global Park with Scott Taylor doing the play-by-play and Ken Wiebe offering the colour.
The remaining two games will come from St. Paul's Midway Stadium when the Goldeyes visit the defending-champion Saints on June 24 and June 25. Both will feature St. Paul broadcast talent.
Of the 14 televised home games, two are in May (27, 31), including the May 27 home opener vs. Sioux City, four are in June (3, 17, 22, 29), three are in July (12, 21, 29) and five are in August (3, 10, 23, 25, 29), including the August 29 home finale vs. Lincoln.
"We are very pleased with our broadcast schedule and how we'll be able to bring Goldeyes baseball once more to fans both inside and outside of Winnipeg," said general manager Andrew Collier. "It's great to be working locally again with Shaw and we appreciate the cooperation of our partners in the Twin Cities, namely Comcast, Ascent Media Network Services and, certainly, the St. Paul Saints."
As well as penetrating the Winnipeg market, Shaw Cable in its on-going commitment to provide local programming in the community, will also forward the signal to many other regions of the province so that subscribers in areas such as Portage la Prairie, Brandon, Neepawa, Selkirk, Beausejour and Steinbach may also catch Goldeyes baseball.
In addition to the 16 televised contests, fans listening to home games over the club's www.goldeyes.com website will be able to watch live game action from CanWest Global Park via a pay-per-view format.
With the audio coming from play-by-guy Paul Edmonds, visitors to the website will find the link for the video on the Goldeyes home page. In order to view the action on-line, there is a per-game cost of (US) $6. Secured pages allow visitors to enter their credit card information to gain access to the webcast.
