Back in the early 80's, 92 CITI FM was king. 97 KISS FM was a girly man station (like Q94), they changed their format in around 1985 or 86...they went to a rock format. At the same time, 92 was trying to find their soul..making subtle format changes and losing listners in the process, but they still hung on to the #1 rock station title. Any quality on air talent that 92 produced would quickly jump ship to a good station, or leave town for a big market (big$$). Then CITI changed to classic rock and sealed their fate as a bottom feeder station with recycled on air talent, and music by dead people. Having said all that, Power 97 has a far superior product, both on air and musically, but still not up to par for my tastes. When I do listen to rock radio, it's always 97, but I get way more of what I like on satallite radio.
