I think that the shoulder injury hampered Khari all of last year, and part of 2003. As well, years of pounding from DL'S due to a less than stellar O-Line took there toll. I'd love to have Khari back, but he will want to start. All QB'S do. Look for him to sign in Sask, Hamilton, Ottawa or Toronto. Somewhere he has a legit shot at starting. Right now, the Bombers still have Glenn, Jackson and Tee Martin. I see a poor mans Printers in Tee, but my concern isn't his foot speed or his arm. It's his accuracy. Apparently, he has a helluva gun, and is pretty fast, running a 4.54..but his accuracy to throw to his target, or put it in an area that the receivers can safely go and get it, is questionable. Jackson was touted as one of the CFL'S best a few years back, now he can't get into a game. I don't know why, but he deserves a chance. At 29 going on 30, this is it.
Glenn is a lunch pail player. Shows up, does his job, is good, but not spectacular. He can get it done, and many CFL teams have won Grey Cups with average, to slightly above average QB'S. It's always nice to see a QB out there that has spectacular skills, but right now, I'll be just as happy if the Blue win a crap load of games.
The O-Line is in the process of being rebuilt, and I'm pretty confident now, that this group will be better than last year. Adding McGarity and Breedlove to the receiving core was a great idea. Breedloves a huge target, and McGarity had a bad year 2004. The linebacking core should be younger and faster with Ortiz, Ortega, McKinlay in the mix, and all that's left, is a couple of smart signings in the secondary. Although Sanchez, to me, is a freakin locker room cancer, Malveaux F.A from Montreal, is a solid DB, and with Bell, Lysack, Malveaux as starters, taking a chance on Tim Carter (provided his injuries are healed) is worth the risk. He and Malveaux, are shut down 1/2 backs. Bell is a natural corner, and really, that just leaves one corner spot open to deal with.
But Khari in the Peg? Love to see it, but he wont like backing up.
