Now if you'll look around this "Revenue Idea" section, you'll see tons of ways Jets fans will be able to (potentially) view the game via pay-per-view (if they can't afford tickets, can't GET tickets, or it's an away game).
The latest idea I've had is to show games at the MTS Centre on the centre ice scoreboard. The video quality is great, and there would be a great atmosphere if a few thousand people show up. Cost could be $10 and all the MTS Centre concession stands could be open.
I know they did this for Flames playoff games back in 2004... so if the MTS Centre isn't hosting an event that evening, why couldn't they do this for Jets games that aren't otherwise available on "regular" t.v.?

if they did it for play offs or special occasions it would work. but if they did it just whenever, it would suck. first off the atmosphere would not be that great for just anygame. it would be drab and boring. plus many people wouldn't want to go downtown just to see a game on the jumbotron.

Calgary did it on the jumbotron at the stadium once when the saddledome was sold out...It was fun, they had around 8000 people show up...the rest of Calgary must've found a place to sit on 17th Ave.

I got bashed for this idea a while back ... but i love it! It would work for those who couldn't get tix and yes like you said. But it would die out after a while... It'll definetly sell out come playoff time and we could make 800k per game come playoff time... just a rough estimate!

Maybe $80k per road playoff game

Old thread i know------dont know if this has been mentioned before, what if you took an old theater and did the PPV in it.Showed all the road games and home games that are available,of course the home games would have to be sold out or this would not work.Had some concession stands and sold beer thats a given,it would be like a mini arena type feel too it.Cause you would be so cramped sitting so close together.although the wave would kinda suck i think..........

Not sure but there may be legal issues with taking a public broadcast game and charging for it. Not sure. Bars show games but they usually dont charge specifically for that game. I guess it depends on province/state rules. If it is pay-per-view, there must be a deal with the provider and pay what they say. I know you can not just charge people and show a P-P-V event. In fact. many times you can not show a pay-per-view show in public. Years ago in the US, during the Mike Tyson fight years, many bars would order the fight through P-P-V on their home account and then take their cable box which was programmed with the fight and take it to the bar and so many people would show up at these bars that told people they would show the fight. People showed up so they did not have to pay. The cable company would send people to all the bars to see who was showing the fight. If they were, the "spies" would count the people in the bar and come back with a bill for how many people were there plus staff, plus dishwashers, plus waitresses, plus kids and multiply the people times the cost of P-P-V. So if the P-P-V fight cost $60 per home, and they counted 100 people in the bar/restaurant, the bar would get a bill for $6K or be prosecuted.

Yes i dont know how all the legal stuff works either, but i understand the WWE show's wrestling PPV in theaters in town.Dont know how the money is divided up though ------on second thought it is likely not a good idea, since it would compete with MTS PPV.......Unless it was done by MTS and they charged a bit more for the atmosphere-----Hey maybe they would sell the JET-FUEL beer at the thing and pay off all the debts in a couple of games ........LOL

I think it would be an awesome idea... Especially if it was playoff games.. i am sure once and a while they could do a reg game... pump it up a bit a month before.. like maybe a battle of alberta or to and vancouver.. it could be done.

Actually looking at the Flames site recently,They show there 13 PPV games in about 4-5 movie theaters across town and in Grande Prairie i think. They can show any game except Wednesday and Saturday games not televised in Canada, due to the rights of TSN and CBC on those nights.41 games on sportsnet so that does not leave very many games left over for PPV.But i still like the theater idea though..

The Senators do the same thing at movie theatres. Apparently its a pretty neat atmosphere, all those fans stuck in one room together.
For playoff games, going to the MTS Center would be cool, but I wouldnt bother for regular season games.
