Just thought I'd pass along some PPV info for some other Canadian teams: Vancouver has 18 games on PPV this year for a total of $139.95 for the entire package. Last season, they reported 30,000 buys. That's $4.2M! I'm sure a lot goes to the cable companies, but that's a pretty fair chunk of change. Edmonton has 11 games on PPV. Individual PPV games are $10.95, the whole package is $99.95. There was one preseason game vs. Van for $4.95, or free with the package.

wow we could make a good 2-3 Mill $$$ if the jets come back with that. I'm guessing the first couple of years would surpass 50, 000 for sure. ANd charging 15$ for playoffs with over 200 000 would give you tons of cash in your pocket.

I've been a strong believer in the whole pay-per-view revenue stream, Especially with our "MTS Connections", pardon the pun. I don't have all my ducks in a row, but if you could do every away game,(within rules & perameters of league.....which could be easily swayed with the new revenue sharing) plus play-offs. Man the cash flow....they could have per game, pick3, pick10, pick25, etc.....

I have to agree wholeheartedly. ;D I would be very interested in a pay per view package for the Jets. It appears $10/game is the going rate at the moment. All road games might cost you about $400. Perhaps $300 if it was a package deal. 10,000 subscribers would translate to 3 million in revenue less the cable company's take. If you can get another 10,000 buying 10 or 20 game packs then 4 - 5 million might be realistic. Could you offer home games as well without doing damage to your ticket base? Perhaps the Jets would only offer pay per view provided there were at least say, 14,000 tickets sold. My only concern is people who buy tickets might be a bit upset knowing their buddy is at home watching the game for $10 and he is forking out $50. I realize you can't buy the in-game experience but that's quite a premium to pay. It would be most interesting to see how many would subscribe to pay per view to see the Jets. Any thoughts? Gordo

I got the NHL package the last time their was a season on Direct TV, I started halfway through the season and paid $200 for the rest of the season for every game that was not televised by (at the time) ESPN and ABC. Every game, not just a Jet's away game, Playoffs are different though, you do get games that aren't shown in your area.
$10 playoffs yes, regular season, no way

How many people in Winnipeg actually have Direct ?? I think we still have the base of Winnipeg on Shaw or MTS for cable....I know there are other avenues, but the base would be standard cable. These only offer NHL channel, etc. No way you would be able to see 5 away games without MTS having this package. And what a way to get more new customers for MTS t.v. Shaw now is a major player in the phone bussiness & MTS makes huge shift of momentum into cable/pay-per-view. I can see it now.....just one more thing that needs to fall into place.

I really hope our ownership group has already had "preliminary talks" with MTS about a special Jets channel...
