Suppose a family in St. Vital would like to help keep the Jets here but can't afford season's tickets. Still, they would like to go to a couple of games. There's another family in West Kildonan with a similar predicament. How could these 2 families, plus 18 others in Winnipeg get connected to buy a pair of season's tickets?
Perhaps a non-profit, community-oriented corporation could be set up whose main goal is to help the Jets generate additional season ticket sales, as well suggest other revenue ideas. This corporation would connect families and individuals, collect the money and remit it to the team. The team would just have to deal with the non-profit corporation, instead of all these smaller groups. The corporation would hopefully be run by volunteers to reduce costs as much as possible and could perhaps get corporate sponshorships to offset any costs.
Tickets would be apportioned among a group via a lottery, similar to the Crosby lottery. If a group contains 10 people who want to attend 4 games each, the winner of this lottery would have first choice of which game to see, and then have the last choice in the next round (choices 1, 20, 21, etc.).
A stronger season's ticket base can do nothing but help a team here and such a corporation could perhaps supply a couple thousand season's tickets.

That's a Great idea!!....how about all the city's community centers, (who are ineed of some revenue)run the sort of deal you speak of. It may take a few years to make a good dollar, but if you had say 50 families for each center(77) at a minor surcharge of $5.00 to enter "Ticket Pool" it would help everyone. I know it's a reach, but we need to look at this sort of thing to make it accessable to all who really want to support.

My thinking is if a family has kids playing hockey, soccer, baseball, etc. out of a community center, why not have that team pool tickets that the center already has. This would be two-fold. The center has purchased, say 20 pair(that's a huge #) with each pair split into 5 groups. Cost is equally divided between 5 families. (seasons are cheaper than packs generally) The center will still only make a small profit, BUT this will get the communities to share amongst themselves & not feel so threatened buy a huge payment to buy a 5 or 10 pack.
This would take alot to get rolling, but I feel it has some merit. I myself would purchase 4 seasons & sell off my own packs to buddies who couldn't afford full seasons. Really, if you know you'll get your money back, and maybe make a few dollars it's all good.

Brilliant! i love this idea, and i know it would work brilliantley, and i think it would be much more populair than anyone would expect. It may also inspire neighbors and friends to get together and buy season tickets together and share them, which without hearing of this they may not have done.
I love this idea, and i think would work brilliantley.
