A good revenue idea i just got could be rather lucrative after a couple years. Tour the MTSC. There could be a few scheduled tours before Jets games that would be hosted by a tour guide and a player. They would take you through the dressing room of the away/home team, a breif meeting with the equipment manager. They could show him putting a curve on a stick, etc. Then out onto the bench, show us how the arena looks from the players view. And take them to a few other places. then finally end off in the Jets merchandise store located in the MTSC ;D ) This would be great for tourists, because an NHL team will attract alot of tourists (see: returnofthejets.proboards38.com/index.cgi?board=Revenue&action=display&thread=1107411032 ) and children especially, but home town people would be all over this as well. They could schedule the tours at a spacific time and sell tickets for say $10.00 if you have a ticket for the evenings the game and $15.00 if you just want to take the tour. If they had one before say every 2nd game that could be quite the little cash grab.

Excellent idea. I can't believe I didn't think of this first! (I am, after all, "Mr. Revenue Source")
The Xcel Energy Center does this. I remember in...2002 I believe? I paid money (forget how much... $5 or $10 a person for me and my family) to take a tour of the building. Worth every penny too; I loved it. But I also got a free MN Wild "Team yearbook", and I think those are $10...

That is an excellent idea... I took a tour of the Superdome in N'awlins when I was in high school. We got gypped out of going onto the field since they were replacing the turf, but it was great! We got to see the broadcast booths, a luxury suite and the visitors dressing room.

Although it sounds like a good idea, I'm not sure if it would fly. I would pay money to see a tour of MSG, the old Montreal Forum, the old Chicago Stadium, etc. However, the MTS Centre has no history to it. This may create a problem...

BT - Well, maybe the Jets will need to hire more than one revenue source person, i have enough pride to swallow being your trusty sidekick - assuming i get paid an equil salary. Hey, you kinda threw in another insentive to taking the tour a yearbook or program or "tour guide book" of some sort... Somthing that is available and given to only people who take the tour - included int he ticket price of course, no extra cost. Which leads me into Zilla's comment, which is a good one. The historic is lacking at the MTSC - but the "new" title could make up for it... tour the "new" state of the art arena? and even if that doesn't work, having a player co-host the tour should be somthing that tips the scale. along with the program/tour gide/ yearbook only available to people who take the tours... And, i think the guid would try extra hard to target tourists. which once again i point everyone to returnofthejets.proboards38.com/index.cgi?board=Revenue&action=display&thread=1107411032 which is an insentive for tourists to come in the first place, then we start nickle and diming them to death with things like these tours... eerrmm i mean giving them oppertunitites of a life time like these tours.

I agree that I would pay for a tour of those building, but I would also for MTSC. Just seeing the dressing room, equip manager, getting a behind the scenes type of look would be well worth the money IMO.

i did the tours for the air canada center and the skydome a while ago and it was great. we got to go into the dressing rooms, luxury suites, broadcast booths, etc. and it always leads to the gift shop as all tours do. i didnt get any other program or anything like that with the ticket though. just the tour. i believe it cost about $7-8. this is a great revenue source.

Just seeing the dressing room, equip manager, getting a behind the scenes type of look would be well worth the money IMO. That's the key idea: behind the scenes. Letting people see "off limits" areas like the benches and dressing rooms would make it a unique attraction. I think it would draw some $$$.

The MTS Centre may not have any "history" but once the Jets come back and people from out-of-town start coming here for games, I believe they would like a tour.
I was wowed by the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks when I visited and I would've gladly paid for a tour.
