Check out this site from MLB.com: mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/video/mlb_tv.jsp?partnerId=160x600_mlbtv_opening_0205Replace the words "all MLB teams" with the new Winnipeg NHL team (ie. "Winnipeg Jets"). We could charge $80 - $100 (cdn) for the whole Jets season. Monthly fee could be $29.95, and single game could maybe be around $10? If you get the whole season, you could get the exhibition games and playoffs for FREE. And once you've paid for a broadcast, you can watch it over and over again on your computer. There could also be a service that allows to watch Jets games on your MOBILE PHONE, WIRELESS PDA, or the next generation of portable media centres. Check out this site for more details: mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/wireless/index.jsp

Have you watched a webcast game? It's just not the same as watching on TV, the picture quality is not there, especially if you enlarge it. Most people probably have there computer in an office in their home, have to sit at a chair, I would much rather sprawl out on my couch and watch it on PPV I couldn't imagine watching it on a phone!

Oh c'mon... 6 or 7 buddies, huddled around your cellphone for 3 hours, cold drinks in their hands... tell me that wouldn't make for an AWESOME night..

Yeah I see your point, don't know what I was thinking, I guess I would hope the cell battery doesn't run out

With the exception of the not-so-great cell phone idea, you are just copying Trent Steele's thread about Winnipeg Sports TV, but yet you accuse his idea of being lousy, and unprofitable...

Show me 1 city on the planet with a sports channel dedicated to that city's professional sports teams. There are none. Because it doesn't make sense.
I haven't "ripped off" ANY ideas from members of this board, and when I do, I give them credit for the idea. I posted about this long before he posted his Wpg sports t.v. channel.

So I guess this "Revenue Ideas" section is just posting things that other teams already do and taking credit for them as your own?
Maybe I'll ask Darren to call this area Revenue Regurgitation.
You still haven't said why it doesn't make sense? Sure it may not be the biggest money maker for the Jets, but it would also support the Bombers, Goldeyes, Wheatkings, and whoever else. And if you wouldn't like to see more money going to each of those teams, then I guess you aren't much of a Winnipegger.

When do I EVER claim I've "invented" ANY of the revenue sources I Post ? ? ? ?
For Chrissake - most of the time I provide a LINK where I found the idea! ! !
Where do you people come up with these ridiculous allegations?

You're right, Snail, but c'mon... it's called the MTS Centre, and MTS will have exclusive pay-per-view rights to Jets games as far as television is concerned.

MTS could easily add said channel to their already huge selection of digital cable and pay per view channels. They'd have it, and Shaw and the satellite companies wouldn't. Exclusivity right there.

Unrelated note: Does MOC stand for "Master of Chants" or "Master of Critics"?
So you honestly think there's a chance that MTS would devote a special "Manitoba sports pay-per-view channel" for all MB pro sports teams instead of a special Jets channel exclusively for Jets pay-per-view games?
What about when the Goldeyes and Bombers play on the same night? How would MTS handle that? And do you really think there's enough of a demand for ppv Goldeye and Wheat King games that they'd send a video crew out there for every game?
I honestly don't see this "Manitoba Sports Pay-per-view channel" coming out - ever.
No other city on Earth has something like is... I've never even heard of any other city considering this.... because it doesn't make sense.

Joel: Do you honestly think MTS will do something like that?
Honestly.
A "Manitoba Sports Pay-per-view Channel" featuring the Jets, Bombers, Goldeyes, and Wheat Kings.

It could work out, minus the Wheat Kings. I would pay to see Jets and Bombers games. Goldeyes games I would not pay for, and I would only pay for Wheat Kings games in the playoffs...

Meh. I'm only as critical as the next person.
Innovation, baby, innovation. Start something new. New York has the MSG Network, devoted (mostly) to New York area sports. Of course a similar Winnipeg channel wouldn't be as profitable or well-known, but Winnnipeg and Manitoba are not in the same league (money and population wise) as NYC.

Well man, his idea included possible just certain times only... They play older games, or replays until a game comes on... have a ticker at the bottom for other scores...
Tampa Bay has something similar... not exact however... Tampa Bay Online... a sports part only...
Look at how many teams they have to offer... the Buccs, Devil Rays, Lightning, Gater, Bulls, Seminoles, Storm etc...
Its like a sports center located to your own town!
How about Sportsnet? They localize the NHL games and what not... only have the teams within your province or possibly 2...
It doens't have to be on all day long

Well, here for New York City, those morons at Cablevision tried to do it under their sports properties monopoly, but it obviously didn't work. The Yankees bolted MSG Network a few years ago to create their own network (YES) and the Mets plan to do the same next year. Now, just the three NHL teams in my metropolitan area plus the Knicks will be left on MSG Network beyond next year. MSGN have serious problems filling air time without the NHL and now that the Knicks season is over. It's just the Mets and crap outside of that now.
I know that the two Air Canada Centre teams in the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors each have their own channels, but since the Blue Jays are owned by Rogers Communications, so that city couldn't and shouldn't do it either (all under one umbrella).
