(Note: Pasted from the ROTJ Forum located at returnofthejets.proboards38.com/index.cgi?board=ROTJ&action=display&thread=1106333285)So there's a big, empty building next to the MTS Centre, correct? What was it called? The 'Metropolitan' or something? Old opera house...? The new owners of a Winnipeg NHL team will be wealthy... and I assume they'd have the funds to convert this building into a casino, the profits of which could go directly to a Winnipeg NHL team, ensuring its health and profitability. Which, in turn, ensures their competitiveness. WHICH, in turn, ensures a loyal, long-term fanbase. I envision a casino/hockey museum... parents could just drop their kids off at the hockey museum and gamble away... Or how about a sports-themed casino...? So many possibilities!

i still say they turn it into the RUNWAY. with one part courioring( ) to families with kids and the other part being the wildest place to watch a game other than at the mtsc. also, this would be the place to meet before and after games.

geez, way to steal my idea BlackThorne But seriously, I think that Chipman would be even more of a fool if he didn't consider making a casino in the old Met theatre. It would make a heck of a lot of money for the team. Probably the biggest issue would be all the naysayers of how casinos encourage negative activity. (aka debotchery) But other than that I can't see this idea not flying.

The government would allow the casino if you made a native run casino(urban reserve). That could be a good way to get a casino in there.

I believe some reserve or native company owns some shares in the MTS Centre. And no I am not making this up. Thats why I brought up this casino a long time back when jetsowner had a guestbook and not a message board.
