How many Jets fans would be interested in this?

I would!
But I don't think it would really take off for another 5 or so years...
It's definitely something the new team owners should look at though.

Well it's like I said... the ownership group of a new Winnipeg NHL team will have to squueeeeze every dollar it can from the fans of the team.
Will I personally blame them for this? No... because I know they'll have to in order for the team to be competitive.

it would work great!!! especially if it was a good game and people wanted to see it again. i know i sometimes stay up until about 3am just to see the rebroadcast of good bomber games. if the game was availabe to download to my ipod video the next day i wouldn't have to stay up and only get 2 hours of sleep

Yogi aren't you the one that said my revenue source ideas were "laughable"? (without- of course- giving ONE example...)

Am I the only one here who doesn't have spare time on my hands? I can't imagine spending an extra 3 hours re-watching a game that I'd already seen just because it was available via Podcast. I suppose VOD (video on demand) through cable companies will be very similar if you want to re-watch a game but I simply cannot afford 3 hours most days to re-watch a game... I question how many people in the general public will have this luxury?

Hey Ratzy, how 'bout YOU come up with some revenue sources??

I like the idea of pre-game parties in which maybe a few thousand people show up to the arena before the game and start drinking $6 beers while watching old-school Jets games. Anybody with a ticket for that nights game can come early and watch games on the jumbotron. It would also make a $70 ticket more bearable because you get 5-6 hours of entertainment instead of just 2-3 hours. A little more bang for your buck. This would be profitable because a) 1-2000 fans drinking beer or eating supper would earn around $10,000 game or over $400,000 per season. b) More rowdy fans at games creates atmosphere and excitement...and the Jets will hereby continue to sell out games after the initial excitement of a new team dies down.

I don't like it.
Do we really want 1,500+ people drinking beers at the MTS Centre 2 hours before the game? We'll have 1,500+ drunks (I assume by "more rowdy" you meant "more drunk") in the arena by the 2nd intermission... and knowing my luck, I'll be sitting next to one!
I think it's an "unwritten rule" that arena doors for NHL games open 1.5 hrs. (or less) before a game.

so you don't like sitting next to annoying little kids, rowdy drunks, and quiet Moose fans...what do you expect of a hockey fan? I have no trouble going to a game having 6-8 beers and not being a complete jackass to the fans around me.
and I suppose podcasting is a way better idea...*sarcasm*

I don't like sitting beside any Moose fan- quiet or not.
Ratzy, ask the members of this board if they like sitting beside a rowdy DRUNK or an ANNOYING brat.
Who in their right mind would say they "enjoy" it?

drunk is a lot different than "disrespectful" or "intoxicated". I don't want some guy slobbering and shouting obscenities but if a guy is rowdy, loud, and cheering, then more power to him...I'll sit next to him anyday...it makes it easier for the shy people aroudn him to cheer as well. Don't mistake me for saying I want completely Sh!tfaced pie-eyed drunks at the games but I do want happy drunks.

I get what you're saying. Loud and passionate? Sure. But drunk, obscene swearing, slobbering, spilling drinks... um.. NO.

I know...I've seen that too many times before...I think those types of people are going to show up schmammered regardless of whether or not they drink at the arena or at home. Some people just don't know when to draw the line.
