MTS bought the naming rights to the MTS Centre for 10 years for.... $10 million I believe...?
Anyways by 2014 there's no question we'll have an NHL team in the MTS Centre and the "Naming rights" of the arena could be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
That could bring in a LOT of money for a new Winnipeg NHL team.
(Cue 'Apprentice' theme)
Money money money moneyyyy...... MAH-NEE....

i wonder if either party has an out clause or re-opener in the contract for when the nhl returns. $ 700K/year for naming rights is still better than nothing though.

That's an excellent question.
When the NHL returns in the next few years, True North can screw over MTS by opening up the bidding on new naming rights for the arena...
That might be illegal, but maybe there's a "loophole" somewhere in their contract.
