My latest idea is having something called "NHL FANtasy" on the new Winnipeg Jets website.
Again (I know you've heard this before), *anyone on the planet with an internet connection and a credit card could play*.
It works just like a hockey pool.
Before an NHL season starts, people could "sign up" on the website and choose their team- who would be made up of NHL players. The fee could be around $9.95. 100% of these profits would go to the team.
At the end of every week, you'd be assessed "points" based on how well your team did. (Ex: goals = 2 pts., assists = 1 pt)... and then at the end of every month there'd be prizes for the top team, etc.
Then at the end of a season there'd be a HUGE "Grand Prize" (I'm thinking of maybe 2 tix to T.O., Montreal, or Chicago to see the Jets play on the road).
During the season, you'd be able to make trades... but you'd have to pay extra. Maybe $4.95 for 3 trades?
I think this would be a great source of revenue for a new Winnipeg NHL team.
And NO other NHL team does this off of their website. We could be the FIRST.
Winnipeg could be a leader for once instead of a follower.
