it would be pretty cool if you could access the webcast if your an mts tv subscriber. maybe they could have a repeat of the most recent game as well. that way if your out on a business trip you won't have to miss the game. you can catch it from your hotel room or the repeat when you get home.

The possibilites are endless.
I just hope the new owners have enough vision/ambition to implement them!

I would never pay for a repeat webcast of a game during the regular season. I think this may work for the out of town business person and devoted fans to watch a live broadcast around the world, but in reality, it sucks to watch a webcast game, much rather see it on TV of PPV

In the Globe and Mail today, they had an article on how Major League Baseball is so far ahead of the other sports in terms of online broadcasting. They have a subscription service where you can pay to see games online for anything between a single game or the whole season. Costs vary from $2.95/game to $79.95 (I think) for the season.
Anyway, the upshot is that MLB makes $135 million a year from this venture that is divided equally amongst all the teams. This comes from corporate sponsors, banner ads and, of course, subscriptions.
This turned me around on the whole deal - I had no idea there was that kind of money to be made from webcasts. I'm not suggesting the Jets (or even the whole NHL) could make that much money off the deal, but even if the NHL does something similar and makes 1/4 the money, that is still $1M per team in potential revenue.

I'm actually shocked and awed by how many revenue streams MLB has... we can learn a lot from them. Seriously- just go to www.MajorLeagueBaseball.com or any team site and have a look around. They have a million ways to generate money.
