How bloody long are we going to stand by this terrible kicker at the expense of the team?
Surely he has lost the faith of management and his team mates.
He was the worst kicker in the league last year and we did nothing to improve or even to push him.
He was horrible last night...not even close.

Fleming missed both his kicks from the 45ish yard line to. I was at the game last night, and it was windy plus thats a long kick for CFL kickers.
But for the record, I don't care much for Westwood either.

The fact they didnt even bring someone else to camp is shocking. Westwood lost that game for us and he lost us games last year. He's a failure. I like the guy and he's been with us a long time, but he's the worst kicker in the game. Time to go.

His accuracy is definitely below average now. He still has good length, but that's really not worth much if he can't regain his confidence. Personally, I don't think he's been the same since the Calgary Grey Cup game. Perhaps there aren't any non-import kickers available to take his place. To me, it's worth using up an import roster spot to have a reliable kicker. Unfortunately, there aren't enough quality kickers for the NFL, so CFL fans get what they get.
With so many Canadian kids playing soccer these days, you'd think a couple dads would set up football kicking tees and nets in their backyards. In the CFL it looks like a pretty good-paying long-term career from my perspective.

The standard salary for a CFL player is now somewhere between $80,000-100,000 per year, so it pays well, or better than it used to, anyway.

i would have kept P Fleming around and let Troy go,let this Puke guy and Flem fight it out over the Kicker and Punting positions,I didint pay attention to the punting last game, but Fleming had 6 punts for almost 50y avg, dont know how much of that was wind aided though.
Wow I just noticed Fleming is #2 in punting Avg,and we get rid of him,and the Bombers are in first place without a win after week one-lol

I love the excuse for releasing Pat Fleming. Nice! I'm pretty sure that Jon Ryan had the same problem here and was one of knock's against him making the Packers.

flemming had no hangtime, thus punt coverage was horrendus. pikula can punt pretty well but hes a bit unproven at kicker, which is why widewest is still around, if pikula shows he can consistently kick the longball widewest will be on the next bus to selkirk

I've been on the Westwood death watch since 2002. I can't believe the end could actually be near

Westwood might be the professional athlete I despise the most. Can't stand him! The rest of the offence looks great though. Could be a fun year, once they get rid of TW

heres a good Troy Westwood story.
At the Foo Fighters concert at the MTSC a couple of years back, a friend of mine dropped his cell phone. At the end of the show, I called it to see if someone had picked it up. Sure enough someone answered. I told him the phone he picked up belonged to my friend and asked if he was still at the arena. He replied that he was just by the doors. So I asked if he could either wait there for us to meet up with him and grab the phone or if he could drop it off at customer service. This is where it gets good. The following response went something along the lines of "Well, I'm kinda Troy Westwood, you know, from the Bombers. If I go back through the arena, it could cause a scene, I don't need to deal with that. But I'll tell you what, I'll leave it at the Bomber office and you can come pick it up" and he hangs up.
At first we thought someone was just playing a joke, but sure enough, my friend went down to the Bomber office and there was a phone in an envelope with his name on it. So instead of Mr Big Time waiting for 2 minutes for us to grab the phone, my buddy had to drive from St. Vital to St. James just to pick it up. The sack of crap could have at least thrown a pair of tickets in the envelope.
This was a few years after my Westwood hating started, so this just put him over the top when it comes to douche-bag athletes.
It boggles my mind that he is one of their worst players and still runs his mouth like he does. If he sucked and kept his mouth shut, people wouldn't hate him nearly as much

He went out of his way to pick it up and leave it somewhere safe for you to retrieve. That's more than adequate. Maybe he should have just stomped on it, or left it for some kid to retrieve and rack up the minutes on. Would that have been better? Go ahead and hate the guy for not doing a good job kicking, but that cell phone thing is just ridiculous. Sorry dude. Nothing personal.

Go ahead and hate the guy for not doing a good job kicking, but that cell phone thing is just ridiculous. Sorry dude. Nothing personal. Ok, you totally missed the point. He was an egotistical dink on the phone. There's no way Troy "Ratboy" Westwood would cause a scene walking through the arena. He could have very easily dropped it off at the arena or waited for the two minutes for us to get it from him. Instead, it resulted in a about an hour long round trip to retrieve it. I didn't expect anything from him, but I would guarantee you that 90% of that football team would have done the friendly thing and dropped it off at the arena. Those same guys, if they actually had a legit reason why they couldn't drop it off, would at least apologize for the inconvenience. Considering it takes a player like 10 seconds to get a pair of tickets, most of them would throw a couple in or a note saying "sorry for having to drive down" or whatever. I didn't expect anything (especially from Westwood), but a decent person would do more than Troy did. It's not like he had to go out of his way, he simply can't be bothered.
