Bombers are officially going ahead with Asper's company Creswin to proceed on a stadium design.
This likely means the sharp loooking Polo Park plan.
Finally they decided on something!

This whole "letter of intent" is an easy way to buy time & sell more tix through excitement. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea.....but as we all know, in this city any deal that needs a guy to put out his own money takes a long time, if ever.
Good for Asper though, I just hope he's ready to put up when the feds say no.

Thankfully Asper was picked, Canad Inns signle handedly killed the club scene in Winnipeg by saturating the city with all their THEME bars!

Well this is the right step and the obvious choice to make because of its economical feasibility. But don't get to hyper Bauer and co. still want this team community owned and Dizzy Asper wants the team to himself! So they must negotiate and then propose the stadium to the governments which seems likely the Provincial is behind the project but the Federals are no where to be in support of this. This could be a big issue and the fact that Doer said he's not willing to spend anywhere near the $40M that Asper is seeking through the provincial government. But all in all, positive step forward for us bomber fans and for this community. LETS GO BOMBERS! Don't forget to purchase your season tickets this year if you want first dibs on tickets for the new stadium! ... That and just support them go to the games! See ya there!

Out of all the stadium designs I do like this one the best, except for the location. But my gut feeling is the private ownership issue will be the stumbling block that makes this proposal come to a crashing halt. And then the Blue will be looking at the Canad proposal once again.

Huge problem is that The Blue Bombers board still thinks Asper will still give all that money away without owning the Bombers.
The deal is, new stadium from Asper and Asper owns the team. I doubt anything but that will do.

Canads deal was never serious. It was pie in the sky selfishness on their part. They didn't even abide by the proposal submition process. Canad Inns is a bush league company, stretched to the max that has always been treated very favourably because of their homegrown roots (even though the family moved here from, I believe, Alberta).
Good for Asper and good for theBombers for not dragging this out too long and setting the ned of the month as the target to get a deal agreed to.
I could see a small minority interest being help by the public with written guarantees that Asper won't sell the club for X amount of years in exchange for public money.
Does this mean I have to vote NDP now??

I wonder what the feds and province will offer in terms of monies, and if Asper will accept less than 40M from each. I hope he is because it doesn't sound like the governments are going to give him the 40M he's asking for. Most importantly I hope this doesn't drag out for too long because construction costs are skyrocketing.

Exactly, Canad Inns has this god complex thing going on right now, they think and are attempting to control everything in this city! Their publicity stunt donation of 1 million bucks to the Human Rights Museum is nothing more than smoke and mirrors job to appear they are giving more than they are taking from the community. You are exactly right, they are stretching themselves over our city and trying to control it with their presence, it makes me sick! "L" used to be an economist from Alberta, he from what I understand uses very little of his own money to get these hotels and other projects off the ground. It would be interesting to see what would happen if things went south a little and whether he could sustain some hard times.
