The plans are in place, as is some of the money...
But as we all know, the wheels of progress turn real slow in Winnipeg...
What year will we see a new Bomber stadium?

So what is going on with the Blue Bombers and new stadium project proposal? My dad was here visiting, and when I mentioned the David Asper and his proposal, my dad flipped. He basically said, "f*ck Asper".
I was shocked and asked why. "He said why should us taxpayers give him $80 million, and the team so he can make hundreds of millions of dollars in the long run? We need our streets fixed and other more important issues to deal with. " I said yeah, but this will create jobs and add some more retail to the city. His response again was "f*ck Asper, give me $80 million, and I'll find a couple backers and make the same project a go". I just laughed and bought another round for him.
I'm wondering, do some of the other Winnipeggers feel the same way about the proposal?

^ Most want it (new stadium) or don't care.
We don't have much say as to where our tax money goes. Spend $80 million just to fix streets that will be in need of re-fixing in 3 years anyways or a new Bomber stadium?
Ideally I'd say "no" to both and just use that $80 million to help lure the Nashville Predators here. Let's face it- that would do more for this city than nice streets and a new Bomber stadium combined...

I went with after 2010. I don't think any political party (NDP or PC) will commit to a new stadium with a provincial election on the horizon this spring or fall.
