Bombers extend contract of G.M. Taman
WINNIPEG, MB – One of the chief architects of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ turnaround this season will be sticking with the team for the foreseeable future, with today’s announcement that General Manager Brendan Taman’s contract has been extended.
As per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Taman is in his third season as the Bombers’ G.M. and his eighth with the organization. He originally joined the Bombers in 1999 as assistant G.M. and was elevated to the role of G.M. and vice-president of football operations in 2004.
Taman has proven to be shrewd wheeler dealer. He engineered trades that brought in the likes of defensive tackle Doug Brown, quarterbacks Kevin Glenn and Khari Jones, wide receiver Chris Brazzell and defensive backs Anthony Malbrough and Omar Evans.
He has also proven an adept talent sleuth, discovering talents like defensive back Juran Bolden, punter Jon Ryan, wide receivers Albert Johnson III, Arland Bruce and Geroy Simon, defensive end Gavin Walls and running back Charles Roberts.
“Brendan has proven time and again that he is one of the best talent evaluators in this league and we are extremely pleased that he will be remaining with the organization,” Bombers President and CEO Lyle Bauer said.
Taman said he is pleased to have an opportunity to finish the job that he started.
“This organization has been extremely good to me and I’m looking forward to repaying that loyalty by delivering a winning team to the fans of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers,” Taman said.
