Doesn't that new stadium look like a toilet bowl?
Anyways, is there any new news on the stadium and if it's closer to being built or not?
I still think that's a bad area to put it. People like me from Transcona will have a long drive. Plus it's not even in Winnipeg in my opinion. Manitoba Blue Bombers? I think not. Keep the Bombers in the city. Build the new stadium off of Marion. Hahaha. So if there's a nice enough wind, we can smell that gross smell from the killing plants.
But in all seriousness, we have to have that stadium in the City. Somewhere where we have a ton of room. In all honesty I think off Lagamodiere. There is a ton of open room there. Tons !

So it will be near the Downs. So what? You will have to drive 40 minutes instead of 30. Is that such a big deal. Plus, you could always take the North Perimeter, and get there faster!

I will reiterrate (spelling?) my opinion of this once again I say build the stadium if the Red River Ex is truly going to make 100% use of the stadium, if not build the stadium near waterfront drive or bulldoze an area near higgins to be rezoned for the stadium. Downtown is where its at and in the summer downtown would truly revive downtown big time in the summer.

Yeah. It think it would be cool. However, with increasing worry of floods, they wouldn't build near the river. At least that's what I think.
There are so many good spots, in St Vital, in Transcona.
I think the arena has to be in a location that people can just go buy during their ride to work or for a place they can walk around and have fun. Well, I guess near the downs would be ok for the walk.

I care about having lots of PARKING RIGHT BESIDE THE STADIUM... and because of that, the outskirts of Winnipeg is a great location.
Downtown Winnipeg already has Canwest Global Park and the MTS Centre. When the NHL returns, we'll no longer need anything else to revitalize downtown. We'll have the Jets in the winter, Goldeyes in the summer.
A lot of people from west of Winnipeg go to Bomber games, and this makes it more conveinient for them too.

Downtown is the place for this, I saw that proposal for Waterfront drive, I thought it was ideal (if the space is truly there), old Canada Packers site would be good, My third choice would be the racetrack

Just ask the people of Vancouver about BC Place Stadium.

Aren't the NY Jets putting a stadium in down town Manhattan, the Bears play at Soldier Field, in downtown Chicago and aren't the majority of stadiums throughout the NFL and CFL in a downtown area? You need easy access whether by car, train or bus, putting a new Bomber stadium at the race track does not serve the majority of the people, sure you can take the perimeter there but what aout the fans without cars living in Ft. Garry, Transcona, Kildonans etc? Downtown works and if it is domed then it can be a multi use facility, not just for the dozen or so home games the Bombers play, I would be very opposed to this if I was a Winnipeg taxpayer and my tax dollars were going for this.

Most CFL stadiums are not downtown (exception BC and Montreal). Toronto is moving out of downtown, and BC has been talking of it. Montreal's stadium is relatively small, and located at the McGill university campus. Putting a stadium at the Forks, downtown, or in the Exchange would be horrible... There is no way a Domed stadium will be built. Too expensive, MTS Centre will be used for all concerts and will object, will only be used a few days of the year (30 at most). Atmosphere would suck for Football. Just ask anyone In Vancouver and Fargo what they think about Indoor stadiums.

Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Hamiltons stadiums aren't downtown. I have been to Regina's stadium and that seemed to be downtown then. I understand your point about open air stadium, but to use it for so little, does not make any sense to me and I would be on the phone to my city councilor telling them to vote against it. If it can't be done with majority private money then in my opion it shouldn't be done at all.

edmontons stadium is on the outskirts of city centre (same as canad inns stadium is on the outskirts of downtown).......and parking availablility for commonwealth is horrible.....it's a welfare area.....so people provideing they're drive ways for $10 is the only time they make any money....haha...
anyways........bus routes (in winnipeg) will be provided for game day so getting there if you don't have vehicle (or just wanna get smashed) isn't a big deal.......and for those living on the opposite side of the city......is travelling a little bit further so bad?......cmon.....it's not like your driveing to your job everyday......you'll travel there once every second week...........quit whinning and get over it......

Whats wrong with Canad Inns stadium? I am not whining about driving, but if I lived in Transcona or Ft Garry and had to take a bus from the game and had a few drinks, i just hope they stop so I can go to the bathroom. Makes more sense to have 30,000 downtown than out in Headingly

haveing to squirt when stuck on a bus really does suck.......but hey....unless you live next door to the stadium.........your gonna have to go every 6.7 minutes anyways.......and i'm sure buddy driveing from transcona to downtown area takes longer than that......and i be he doesn't wanna have to pull over a bunch of times on the way to the game so you can piss...

There may only couple CFL stadiums downtown, but in all of the other cities, the stadiums are located in relatively established areas of the city, and not out in the fields on the very edges of town like Winnipeg is proposing. Right downtown may not be the answer, but there are many other sites closer to the centre that would've been much better.

I would like to have it at the old packers plant or off Lagamodiere or something. It's an area that looks nice or can looks nice, there isn't anything there and it can bring new life to that area.
You don't have to put it on Marion so we can all look at disgusting looking plants there, we can have it anywhere where there's room in the St.vital/St.Boniface/Transcona/EK area. There is a ton of room. Only problem is if it's in the ST. B. area, those french people would want to call it something stupid like Le Stadium la blahblahblah.
I just want it to be closer than at the farthest point I could possibly go. I don't care that I could take the perimeter, what will happen to those places we can park for real cheap? Now we'll all have to pay 5-7 bucks to all park at the Stadium parking lot. LOL

Nice! Le Stadium? I guess bilingual staff would have to be there! There are places of employment, even right on Provencher, where speaking knowledge of French isn't a requirement.
